Tinman, You are absolutely right about Barkley's play here in Houston. He was a hall of famer, playing at a discount and he played hard every night of his career. He wasn't particularly interested in defense, but rebounding (which is part of defense) and offense were two things he did extremely well. What you guys are thinking is that he hates on the Rockets. That's just not true. The reality is that he watches all of the Suns games and his opinion is based on how the other teams play them. I doubt he watches that many other games all that closely. So, considering how poorly we have played against the Suns, you can understand why he thinks Houston is a mirage that cannot stand the playoff pressure. Last night's game could certainly change his mind. He saw his Suns shoot almost 60% from the field and score 117 points and lose the game. He saw Yao and Tracy each have 30+ points. TMAC almost had his first triple double in four seasons and SUDDENLY Charles saw the same team we have dreamed of and occasionally seen on the court. If we can play this way, we can win it again. And now....Charles Barkley sees it too.
I'd be more nostalgic about Barkley's "sacrifice" if it didn't result in the Quitten fiasco. On the other hand, I was exceptionally impressed with his willingness to come off the bench and let Willis start for the good of the team. Not alot of alltime top-50 players would have made that move.
you are right. But im glad Charles says stuff against the Rockets. It motivates them. What he says is true too. Same with Kenny. We're the #4 team in the west. We shouldn't get the #1 team in the West props. These BANDWAGON ROCKET FANS dont know. that's why Clutchfans like us are hear to educate them and take them to school. Thank you. Most of initial posters in this thread need to get their panties out of their you know what's. Now he backs the Rockets versus the Jazz because he has seen the Rockets are indeed a better team than the Jazz (granted this is pretty obvious) and people around here still want him tar and feathered. Luckily the Rockets don't have as thin skins as many fans. The Chuckster was great NBA player and a good Rocket who stayed for the cheap and helped give us a serious title run or two that just fell short. But we got back into the ball game as a title contender and he was a major part of that. He also gives major props to Dream. So now he is an entertainer who occasionally watches some NBA games and throws his opinions around. He is funnier than insightfull, but so what, that is better than bland, dull and arrogant and without the self-depreciating humor mixed in, like most sports analysts. If you can't have fun watching him, and taking him in tongue and cheek, that is your issue.
I have no problem with what Barkley says about the Rockets. Most of the time, he's correct. We haven't proven anything yet. The moment we make some noise in the post season, I'm sure he, along with many other people, will start respecting the Rockets more.
The same Kenny that on that particular Draft night said "The Rockets made a mistake in taking Yao, they should have pick Jason Williams from Duke".

Did Barkley ever play as a Knick? I think its probably a case of being too close to the situation. But tinman, seriously, don't stress yourself over it. People come to the bbs to vent or whatever. It's a lot better that they get their anger out here rather then do something worse in the real world. As far as I am concerned... the best part of this was the "You just said last week that the Rockets weren't going to beat Utah" lol pretty funny that they called him out on it. Of course then saying that their sleepers weren't going to win was pretty dumb. LOL maybe they should hire us to be the color guys for NBA on TNT
