The problem with Barkley's argument is that Morey never tried to tout his own belief in analytics as a way to prove Barkley wrong on any point. Morey only pointed out that his constant vitriol towards Houston is not based in fact (having the worst D in the league). Barkley's reply about Morey's belief in analytics had nothing to do with the conversation. This article does nothing to explain his "fued with Morey". It's just Barkely repeating what he already said. He says nothing of the fact that he's hated on the Rockets on TV since Yao was a rookie.
Morey should tweet this to Charles: Spoiler Heart of a champion! Then tweet: Spoiler Would have got a third if Charles wasn't so fat.
Bingo. Morey has pretty much stated that they use a combination of the eye test and analytics in the past when looking for talent. I believe he's also stated that he and his staff feed analytical data to the coaching staff and players and it's up to them whether they want to use it or not. This whole Morey being at one extreme is an opinion propagated by buffoons and now we have TNT's lead dimwit talking as if he has a clue. Much of what Cuban says is how Morey operates. Barkley is the risk you take when you give a clown a mic.
We jump through hoops trying to defend Morey because we're all so pissed off - ha. But Barkley's comment is so weak you can defend Morey simply by naming players he's acquired. Analytics don't work because! Kenny never shot 3's then all of a sudden became a 3-point specialist. Morey can't account for changes or improvement. He's traded a starting PG on a playoff caliber team for a 3rd stringer on a bad Grizzlies team who has emerged as an MVP candidate. He's gotten good players from overseas like Scola and DMo that have converted to the NBA. Same with college players like Parsons. Beverley, Brooks, Dragic... he's elite when it comes to finding talent. He understands the value of guys like Battier, Hayes and Artest. He just signed Josh Smith. Morey uses every piece of data possible, every method of player acquisition possible, every wrinkle in contract negations possible and he does it all at an elite level.

The Rockets have long felt that Barkley is biased against the Rockets, an argument that Barkley does not dispute. Barkley has said on the air that he has what he considers good reason, believing that the Rockets did not sufficiently pay him back after he took a $1 million contract for the 1998-99 season to leave open the cap room necessary for the Rockets to sign Scottie Pippen. Barkley signed a $9 million contract with the Rockets the next off-season, arguing over the years that he should have earned $14 million. http://blog.chron.com/ultimaterockets/2015/02/charles-barkley-vs-the-rockets-is-about-more-than-analytics/#30304101=0
Props to Barkley...i called him an idiot but he saw something most of us were late in seeing. OKCs bigs are scary, and they were the deciding factor vs the Spurs and really seemed to show today.
Most of us, PSSH..some of us wanted the Rockets to go big...not that it would have had the same results but you have to play to your strengths. DD
It really boggled my mind when we tried to go small with Brewer at the 4. One of the most ridiculous decisions I've seen a coach make in the NBA. We should have started Capela and have Dmo come off the bench and lead the offense. Eventually, JBB started Dmo again, which worked a little better.
How could it boggle your mind when we have tried Delfino, Parsons, Ariza, Harden before Brewer. The philosophy is to create variance through mismatches, and spacing for Harden with 3 point shooters. That's why we get blown out instead of just lose!!! Because we put a guy that had a month long drought shooting 3s to space the floor.
