Barkley "Rockets sucked for a long time before they got Harden" I want to know his definition of sucking because despite being in the west and going through a rebuilding process the team never dropped below .500
The best part is how Shaq laughs at him. I don't know if he's laughing at Charles or with him, but it's funny as hell.
TNT owes the Rockets organization a public apology for allowing their employees to personally attack Morey like that. Also, Chuck has no idea what analytics are.
Charles is old school. He doesn't believe in analytics because that's not how the game was played in his era. Honestly, analytics isn't what make champions - he is right. Analytics is what makes your team optimized and more efficient so you have the best chance of winning. To think that analytics hasn't impacted the game - nearly every team is cutting down on mid-range shots and taking it into account. He might not be able to see it, but it's there. Analytics is table stakes now.
Nah, they're all laughing with him because it's true. It's rude but it's true. Morey has done 100 or so transactions... guy is on hyperdrive and all he's really done is lucked into harden which brought in Howard. You can see time and time again all those stat related transactions , TOO MUCH MOVEMENT, like Brooks for Hamilton, Lin over Dragic, hurt the team a lot and were what kept it mediocre (14th spot is the worst, can't build young talent through draft) until Harden came along. accumulating assets my ass, dude is not the guy all the other "nerds" wish he was.
Spurs use it. Any ways, back on Charles. He could have been smarter about it certainly. Just should have left it at "This is just what really smart guys use to try and get into the game." and added "Morey is a really intelligent guy, I just don't agree with how he builds teams." Instead he turned it up to 11 lol and then revealed his bias. Morey has to be smiling like a Cheshire cat.
We didn't choose Lin over Dragic nor did we have incentive to keep Brooks that season. The opening seconds of that YouTube video says it all. Positive teams like GS or Memphis have gave up 110+ in high scoring games and still go on to win. While we haven't had the postseason success to back it up, it's clear he obviously has a bias.
Analytics aren't about numbers. Is simply about maximizing your opurtunities... You don't have to be a nerd to understand, you just have to not be a dumbass.
Everyone "uses" it in basketball. Not everyone "relies" on it so hard they can't see outside of it. that's the thing with the "nerds" as charles puts it... although i don't see the term nerd as something derogatory. those guys do well in the world, but in sports it's not everything.
Hmm I think the truth split in between what Moray think or Charles .. If you in a stock market trading...you do both..you make sure your protifilo has a decent return then uses meta stock and such software to predict movement
Uh, Morey. Despite your twitter trolling that probably took you awhile to craft, Barkley's off the cuff response was more entertaining than your tweet. And he is fundamentally more correct about Analytics affect on winning than you are. Let me start Daryl. Do you know your team shoots the most 3s in the league (by far) and has the 2nd most TOs? Isn't that contradictory.
And it's not even the metric stats that say we are a good defensive team. It's stuff like Oponents FG%, and PPG allowed. Are we elite, no. But we are a good defensive team.
For anyone thinking to agree with Chuck. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Alternative title: "How the Dallas Mavericks used analytics to help win a championship" <a href="http://t.co/27TO9hQHPT">http://t.co/27TO9hQHPT</a></p>— Tom Haberstroh (@tomhaberstroh) <a href="https://twitter.com/tomhaberstroh/status/565399802926891008">February 11, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>My alternative title: "How the Miami Heat used analytics to help them win championsihps" <a href="http://t.co/0aZa03LFNU">http://t.co/0aZa03LFNU</a></p>— Tom Haberstroh (@tomhaberstroh) <a href="https://twitter.com/tomhaberstroh/status/565399321114574848">February 11, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Alternative title: "How the San Antonio Spurs have had an analytics consultant/director to help win 2+ titles" <a href="http://t.co/WrPT0pzyQm">http://t.co/WrPT0pzyQm</a></p>— Tom Haberstroh (@tomhaberstroh) <a href="https://twitter.com/tomhaberstroh/status/565400789586550785">February 11, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Barkley: "No good team gives up 118 points."
