There's nothing to understand...Chuck is one of those guys that likes to spit sentences without knowing ****. He doesn't watch enough Rockets games to understand what are our problems...he doesn't even know how to evaluate the players he's talking about...
Ariza's trajectory for shooting was going up. The season before as a Wizard he was shooting 40% from 3 at a high volume.
Harden did not like to play with Lin nor did he want to bring back Lin. Ditto with Smoove and Thornton and DMo. Not to mention he doesnt want to play with Dwight. Also Harden was fine with Parsons walking and replacing him with Ariza. And Harden wanted and vouched for Lawson. Do you see a pattern here? Do you see a problem here?
THIS. Excellent assessment DD. Great post and spot on IMO. I don't think the team needs as much of a roster change as they do a new coach and system especially defensively. Harden is so ridiculously talented offensively that it's easy for a coach to get seduced into throwing everything on his shoulders. Morey is a bit to blame for this.
Plus got the coach fired.... in the interview he talked about what his TEAMMATES need to do and not what I need to do.. Hmmm..... Deja Vu... Adrain Dantley all over again.. T_Man
You guys are soo high on Thornton (and with Ryan Anderson is the same) just because he makes some good looking 3pt shots, but he's one of those chuckers which always fails in the playoffs, players like Jamaal Crawford are good regular season players because they face more than often mediocre defense, but in the playoff they just disappear under their bricks...those are not player that helps a team winning games... How many players like Thornton, JR, Crawford do you see on the Spurs, Warriors, Hawks (teams playing the best basketball)? Well, i answer for you, no one.
I think you're wrong, he also said something like "we've to work and be better for next season" first. -> IF i remember well.
I've seen this bizarre interpretation of Thornton's time here before and I don't get it. Yes, if you throw up enough shots you will get some buckets. Marcus Thornton shot under 40% this past season - 33% from downtown. Let's not act like he was some great scorer that the Rockets just somehow mysteriously overlooked.
You stated Charles Barkley didn't know what he was talking about specifically Trevor Ariza. My point is that the season before he was traded back here, he was one of the best 3 pt shooters in the league. He shot 40% at high volume the season prior.
i'm not sure what harden is supposed to do when the scrubs around him cannot even drain wide f'n open shots game after game. wide f'n open looks that are typically directly created by harden driving and passing off, or simply passing out of the double team. and as far as nobody wanting to play with harden, this is the same guy who was voted mvp by the players less than a year ago. he is one of the most popular players among his peers. as usual barkley spouts off BS straight out of his ass.
Lol people don't know jack **** . Harden needs better teammates . He needs a better system . The Warriors are fun to play for becuase they win and because they have been taught how to move off ball and how to pass . Sure you have to have a certain level of skill and instinct to make them work - hence the better player part . Getting rid of Dwight is gonna help a lot . Getting another player who can handle and shoot and drive will help a lot . Some ****ing positive regression will help . And yes harden has flaws , but if this team was winning they wouldn't be so magnified . You don't hear **** nationally about if KD or lillard needs to play harder on defense ... It's because their teams win games .
he was also one of the best perimeter defenders in the league, and now he can't stay in front of anybody. do we blame harden for this too?
I think Barkley is strictly talking about Ariza's shooting in this playoff series versus Golden State [4-for-28 from 3pt range]: Spoiler
