That has absolutely nothing to do with it. Most successful organizations (i.e. teams at the top of the standings) realize most late round picks don't pan out. Jalen would be easily worth the risk (or lack thereof)
You can interpret it that way. Another perspective is, going all the way back to ‘rookie’ status in your 3rd year? You’d better be a fast learner because no one is giving you two more years. IOW, while it’s not too late to learn, it’s almost too late from a contractual standpoint. Hopefully, he does get it, but I’ve seen very little improvement and have little hope. Edit: I’ll add that the coach is under pressures here to play Jalen. One, he’s a high pick, and the Rockets are not yet ready to give up on him (management pressure). Two, the Rockets need someone else to pick up the scoring load, and Jalen, whatever you think of him, has shown the potential, albeit extremely inconsistent, to be that player. Three, even if the Rockets decide he’s not that, they need him to at least have some tradable value.
It's just dudes coping, that's all. It takes zero basketball IQ to see Jalen Green is a bad NBA player and they would not be preaching "patience" for a non-Rocket player displaying Jalen Green's level of ineptitude in Year 3 of their career.
That’s fair. I just don’t see him getting the minutes he would need to ever become what he arguably might become while on a contending roster.
JR Smith managed to get minutes. Man, hurts to say our #2 pick is hopefully JR Smith. If he could shoot maybe Tony Delk. So disappointing. I guess we hope for the best.
Well said. At least we hit on Alpi and Tari. Always find a silver lining as a fan and that's a really good one
I think it became a thing in the early 70s. There's a difference between having fashion models (and celebrity) wearing something and being a pop fashion on the street.
I agree, but then, Green IS a celebrity, so hardly something to consider odd/unusual when people have been doing it for 3 times as long as he's been alive, no?
I agree, if Green were to dump basketball for modeling...more power to him....going the Royce White route.
Top teams don’t typically trade for draft bust-y players still on their rookie deal. They may sign those guys to their second deal at really low numbers. Rebuilding teams are more the teams gambling on rehabbing someone still on their rookie deal unless the deal is more based on being salary filler. Look at who traded for Toppin, Wiseman, Bagley, Reddish, Romeo Langford, Wendell Carter, Kevin Knox, Fultz, Josh Jackson, Dennis Smith, and on and on. Teams in the top 4-6 in their conference are pretty close to never actively trading for a draft bust on a rookie deal as a reclamation project.
As well as warriors from various tribes and countries from even before our great greats were hanging out in their ancestors ball sacks. Those guys ran down prey on foot and were far more masculine than all the males on CF put together.
In my experience, and this is generally speaking, men are threatened by other men behaving in any way that is considered feminine (earrings, makeup, painted nails.) You'll also notice that women tend to like it for some reason.
We need to trade him now not later, he just does not fit in a team style offense only in a HERO BALL type offense….he was awesome the last two years playing HERO BALL with KPJ
Against the Suns, Jalen scored well but I feel like that’s just because the 3 went in. He’s still not attacking the rim like he should, and he’s not as exciting as he should be. I think there’s still something that’s not quite right mentally, and until Jalen figures it out, he’s not going to see significant improvement. He’s also still too loose with the ball and too easily bumped out of his comfort zone with layups
