Eric Gordon was a star in the making. He really got fk'd by injuries that robbed of his crazy athleticism early on. glad he was able to somewhat revive his career with us
The Rockets are literally in a phase where the only avenue to judge a player is through small sample size and understanding their age and lack of experience. Look dude if you want to act like fans shouldn't be excited about their 20 year old 2nd pick being top 10 all time in ppg for a 20 year old by just pointing at the one singular example of Tyreke, go ahead but it's really at this point just trying to find an excuse not to be at all excited. He has 2-3 game slumps? Man it's as if hes a 20 year old sophomore.
I would be slightly concerned if he wasn't flashing the playmaking he's had recently. That's been huge. Defense and scoring consistency is a big issue, but if he can start to be a reliable 5-6 assists per game, that's a good sign.
What 20 year old didn't have consistency issues outside of Lebron? There are things to worry about but then are things that should be expected. Having 3 hot shooting nights and then 3 poor shooting nights is what you expect out of a 20 year old sophomore who's tasked to generate over 50% of his own offense.
I don't think it makes sense to post comparisons of guys from entirely different eras of basketball. I mean, Elvin Hayes year 1 and 2 stats are amazing! totally not applicable now though.
Lol what are you talking about? I'm not trying to come up with some magic algorithm that predicts his future stats or anything. It's an interesting piece of information amongst thousands of pieces of info that can be used however you want to use it.
I'm talking about the tweet comparing #'s across eras. The league Kobe came into was very different from the league 20 years later as was the statistical output.
2nd year stats: Anthony Edwards: PPG: 21.3 RB: 4.8 AST: 3.8 3PT%: 0.357 FG%: 0.441 EFG%: 0.527 Booker: PPG: 22.1 RB: 3.2 AST: 3.4 3PT%: 0.363 FG%: 0.423 EFG%: 0.475 Ja Morant: PPG: 19.1 RB: 4 AST: 7.4 3PT%: 0.303 FG%: 0.449 EFG%: 0.487 Green: PPG: 21.3 RB: 4.1 AST: 4 3PT%: 0.344 FG%: 0.424 EFG%: 0.5 Lavine: PPG: 14 RB: 2.8 AST: 3.1 3PT%: 0.389 FG%: 0.452 EFG%: 0.516 Brewer: PPG: 6.2 RB: 3.3 AST: 1.7 3PT%: 0.417 FG%: 0.411 EFG%: 0.439 Disclaimer for Sam: In no way am I saying these stats tell a full story or even saying suggesting how these stats that should be used. I, Xaos, recognizes that all situations are different. I am not attempting to make projected assumptions which includes guaranteeing future success or failure.
Eric Gordon was projected to be a star. Injuries turned him to be a could-have-been. He still had a pretty good career as an elite 6th man.
It's okay man. You can be excited about Green. It's an all time list. That means it includes all the modern era players that were drafted the last 10 years and Green is still top 10.
Harden is a big time choker and all his dominance happened in the regular season, he has choked multiple times including vs Spurs without Kawhi, that 0-27 choke job vs GSW and finally against GSW again this time without KD, Klay and Cousins. In their absolute peak, Wade may not have won mvp in the regular season but he carried Shaq and the Heat to a championship and got a Finals MVP which is what matters more. Wade also has better mentality and intangibles than Harden. Wade played well with multiple stars whereas Harden feuded practically with every star he has played with his entire career, thats gotta be an accomplishment. Wade was seen as a leader and part of Heat who are workaholics, Harden was a party maniac and would party right before games. Nobody but die hard Hardenstics will put Harden over Wade.
Green is still very much dependent on his 3's which isn't all that reliable at the moment. His inside scoring has been pretty okay, I still feel like his decision making is a work in progress, too many difficult shots when there doesn't need to be. I feel like a good scorer is one that knows how to find easy shots consistently. KPJ for example really sucks at that, he always tries low percentage shots when driving, which is why his efficiency is not improving.
Guys just do a search on Sam's posts and you'll find a person who goes around the board seeking optimistic posters and attempting to pour water on it. It's not personal to the posts he just seems to need to do that and you don't have to spiral down that bottomless rabbit hole with him. Our faith in Jalen is paying off big time. He's been slightly inconsistent because everyone including superstars become more inconsistent when they play better teams. Watch Jalen destroy his current numbers the rest of the way and enjoy it. The downers of the board will just put themselves in friction with it and they'll never get to enjoy it.
