Are you kidding! Kobe didn't even come close to shooting as many 3's as Harden and his career percentage is 36%. Nobody has attempted anywhere close to as many 3 pointers as Harden. Curry is the closest, but his average is 42%, which is a big difference.

I like both. Just give me a top 3 pick and I'll thank my lucky stars

So? Did I say anything wrong, Kobe's era was never about accuracy in 3 pointers but big game heroics.

Naturally he shot midrange and FTs.

Since fga where you are fouled don't count as fga, I wonder if Kobe would be more closer to top 5 if you calculated total shots taken not just total fga

I thought you meant that era was gone taking a bunch of 3's without being great at them.

You can't make these correlations, just because Kobe had more shots than Shaq and they won a championship, doesn't mean him taking more shots is the reason they won a championship. Also, you can't simply count seasons where they went to the finals, the ones where they failed to make it to the finals are equally important.

In the 2001 season, Shaq was the clear leader in every statistical category, whether it's BPM, VORP, WS or TS%. Even with Shaq's horrid free throw shooting, he was still a more efficient scorer than Kobe.

In 2002, Shaq actually missed 1/4 of the season, so Kobe naturally would have taken more shots during his presence. However, despite missing 1/4 of the season, Shaq still led the team in counting advanced stats like WS, and again was far more efficient than Kobe.

2003-2004 were two seasons where Kobe had clear statistical advantage over Shaq in advanced stats, and they never won a ring.

In other words, the Lakers only ever won rings in seasons where Shaq was the clear, statistical best player on the team. When Shaq started to decline, the Lakers lost.

Until they got Pau Gasol, and then they won again, with Kobe as clearly the best player.

He was their best player, but not by a clear margin.

In advanced statistical categories, Pau Gasol had the highest win shares in both of their championship seasons together. Kobe led in other advanced stats like BPM, but as the creator of these stats themselves said, these advanced stats are heavily favored towards ball dominant player (which is how Westbrook broke the stat completely during his MVP seasons). Pau was also a much more efficient scorer.

If we compare it to Shaq, Shaq led in every single advanced statistical category, including scoring efficiency. He was their clear cut best player. We see the same trend.

Note that I'm not saying that willingness to take the shot in big moments or when you are the best option on the court is a bad thing. However, the willingness to pass the ball is just as important to a team's success.

If you think Pau Gasol was the best player on two championship teams, that's fine... Carry on my Houston brethren.

Don’t @ me. He’s not Kobe, I know insinuating that triggers some people, but the stats are what the stats are. Just thought this was cool.

I think there is a pretty credible argument that Pau was the most impactful player on one of those title runs and a close 2nd on the other.

The Celtics and Lakers championship resulted because there was a power vaccuum in Super Team dynasties.

The Celtics had a mini Super team but their Offense was not that exciting for a team that had 4 All Stars.

    Then the Heatles came.
