These are essentially efficiency stats. It also lacks context and suggests all players being defended as equal. E.g. defending Durant is not same as defending Pat Bev.
There is nothing wrong with forming an opinion on someone as time goes on and changing that opinion, if you were right about everything you would have a job working for an NBA team. The part that I find odd about forums like this is when people refuse to change their mind and would rather their team fail than be wrong. Watching Jalen has been a rollercoaster this year. He has put together some good games post all-star break, but is getting pretty disrespected. I have seen some stuff where they list top 7 rookies you start a franchise with, and he is not even listed. If you are listing 7 rookies and not listing him, then i guess people have stopped watching the games.
Jalen on fire early. You hate to see it. If you're a clown who invested the last 5 months of your life running him down on here..
Jalen Green with 20 points in 31 minutes of play (50% FG, 40% 3pt) and I was not at all satisfied with his game. It is a clear sign of the excellent level that he has shown and how he has raised the standards to evaluate his game. I'm really worried about Silas' rotations. Game after game he shows that he is not the right coach for this team.
I just want to see one game where (and this is on Jalen, too) he decides to f*ck it all and go for 40 points. Yes, the rotations are pretty bad and we don’t look for him enough but he’s also got to be more selfish sometimes and go for it! And when that happens I see a huge scoring game on the way.
Anyone that thought the G-League would give Green an advantage was not paying attention. What the G-League did was let coaches and scouts see how players conducted themselves but that’s about it. The sample size was very small. I don’t have a problem with Green saying he should have gone #1. I don’t care about the dunk contest, especially with a 19 year old. Jalen Green had a very slow start but had done what you look for in very young players, he has improved over the course of the season. He is Jordan, but I never expected that. He has however played well enough to keep his potential wide open. He is averaging 23/4/5 in March and was up to 17 a game in February…. Would it be surprising if he averaged 20/5/5 as a 20 year old? What about 22/5/5? Those are both reasonably possible. If he does that at 20 years old he is on pace to at least be a multiple time all star.
Stone did not give Silas a complete team. No rim protection, no wings that can shoot or that are taller than 6'5, no developed PGs until Schroder.
I said the same thing after the Grizzlies game. He needs to just be selfish and go for 40. Next game is the Lakers. He played up against big brother Ja, so with how he has been playing lately he might drop 40 against grandpa LeBron
yup easy 20 points is not good enough for me anymore. This is actually not one of his best games because his standards has been raised by himself. I think he might have run out of gas tonight, and wasn't as engaged on defense
Patience is not a Rockets fan's virtue. just ask @Bobbythegreat But I've definitely been on the wrong side before, I think all of us have and good to keep that in mind. So in my book, all is forgiven. Still, I am not sure why people wrote him off so quickly given how hard he worked and how much raw quickness and athleticism he possessed. Anyway, I hope everyone can move on and just enjoy the show now.
It was super easy since he had 14 of those points in 1 quarter. The other quarters the team drifted away from him so the next thing he has to do is to know when and how to tell his teammates to stop F'ing around and give him the ball.
people wrote him off for various reasons, I would say a ton of posters had ulterior motives that have nothing to do with Green. 1. Some have argued about Mobley vs Green for the entire off season and just want to gloat on the internet for being right. 2. Some hated Green because they hate Tilman/Stone and just want them to fail and use Green as some kind of example to talk shet. There was this false narrative that Green was only drafted because he had instagram hype and nothing else even though most mock drafts had Green at 2 or 3 with Mobley. 3. A few posters literally hated Green because they just didn't like the way he dressed, his hair cut, his tone of voice, his toe nails etc. These were the true weirdos. It really didn't help that Green looked like a headless chicken most of the time for the first half of the season, and looked raw in about every aspect of his game. I wish people would just focus talking about basketball. I think criticism of Green's game was totally deserved. But posters were actively rooting against him on this forum for other reasons were really annoying.
Yeah I saw the double teams too. They were also hunting him on defense switching until they could get Butler isoed on him in the post. Green just doesn’t have the sand in his pants to deal with that right now. When he gets cut off on his drives I wish he would just pull up and hit the midrange. Money in the bank.
After having to watch Westbrook I don't like seeing the words midrange and bank so close together... even in 2 sentences
