Personally i don't get the Mobley hype - and I will be the first to say, that I haven't watched him enough and am not an expert in player evaluation. But what I see is him getting either open shots close to the basekt (most of the time because of a good pass) or mildly contestet shots close to the basket. I have seen some good post moves and some good perimeter shots, but so far they seem to be more of an exception than the rule. I rarely see him making tough shots or creating a good shot. Of course he is a great defender - and I may be totally off base here, but is he really a lock down defender or is he more a very good man on man defender and great help defender? Nobody doubts that he has a lot of potential and is already a really good player. But I don't see him as being the centerpiece of a team - at least not above players like Antony Edwards and Trae Young. And personally i see way more potential for players like Cade and Green to lead a team.
Your thoughts seem more relevant on this thread about this topic. A little preseason trip down memory lane may be a good exercise for everyone. Refresh your memory. Unfortunately I cant capture it all as "Jalen Green Bust" maxes out the search query. https://bbs.clutchfans.net/search/73128423/?q=Jalen+Green+bust&o=relevance https://bbs.clutchfans.net/threads/the-jalen-green-experiment-is-over.313446/ Good for YOU! Hanging tough with Jalen and not joining in the bullying! True "die hard" fan https://bbs.clutchfans.net/search/73129428/?q=Jalen+Green&o=relevance&c[user][0]=6116 I have very specifically mentioned the smaller portion of truly hateful contributors in the KPJ thread and have also shouted out the guys who have kept it civil and offered genuine debate. You're barking up the wrong tree. I've never crossed more than a petty threshold in debates here and only have gone off the deep end on this very topic of Jalen Bust last year when Jalens masculinity was the hot topic for a few weeks. I dont call the other side of a debate "dumb, fanboy, idiot, deluded, insane" or plenty of various other colorful words just because I disagree with them and yet civility is only expected from me or the minority in supporting an extension and having some faith in KPJ to get better? Holding to task guys who actually show some passion for this team and allowing those that create the toxicity to escape accountability is lame AF.
LOL. Really? No wonder you are so uptight. You found all my sarcastic jokes and "prove" that I was enjoying the Green diss? Dang, I thought better of you than this, man.
And he's only 20. Imagine what he's going to be like once he fills out and gains that man strength. Good thing he shoots FT's at a high clip cause he's going to live at the line.
It’s weird that people can’t get past early season narratives. I’m not sure how you can take the whole season’s worth of data and come up with a ranking like that. It’s just extremely lazy writing.
It makes more sense when you realize the end goal is not objective analysis but instead to generate traffic, clicks and retweets.
That list doesn't eliminate low volume iso possessions(under 1 possession per game). Players like Giddey don't deserve to be on that list. His "efficiency" is purely based on just really low volume and chance. In reality he's a pretty poor scorer and isn't that great at self creation. Green averages 2 possessions per game so he would reach the cut off for minimum.
Yeah I agree. Include all positional players and Jalen is still 13th overall in the entire NBA. Pretty cool.
I don’t get it either. He had a good defensive year before Allen went down. Nothing else screamed star to me. I think Jabari has greater upside because of work ethic and body type plus he can shoot. Mobley is a starter in this league, but I see him as a pretty good 3rd man on a contender.
It was one season, anything thing can happen, the third year will tell you the most about those players.
