Cancelling has a time limit too. Hulk Hogan is getting a feel-good movie where he'll be played by the Thor actor.
To shed my understanding about this, one of my former employers had an incident that spilled into our company forums relating to trans insurance coverage. Coverage for transition therapy and surgery was not included and they felt lied to because the company promised inclusiveness. They threw admin under the bus, then claimed HR threatened them not to air this stuff out or get fired This was 6-7 years ago so health coverage for trans was less defined as it is now. I can see how if transitioning is essential for them and their identity, then they'd absolutely refuse "inadequate coverage" since all the stuff they're paying would be OOP anyways. I could also see my company's POV because they didn't want everyones rates to rise while paying the overage dollar for dollar. Anyways there was a lot of emotional comments from the trans employees. It was wild. We traveled but they disliked having to work in bum**** Alabama and cited safety reasons. Dave made a joke about the alphabet bus in an earlier show, and what reminded me of this was when they thought male gay co-workers co-opted their voice when the latter defended front office. There was also an impatient or fervent rush to accept their POV and bypass dialogue because they were tired of explaining their condition. There are many trans who commit suicide. When your identity does not match what others see or expect from you, that's essentially the textbook definition of insanity. Hipsters would glibly remark this condition as Kafkaesque. But yes, there are people on the spectrum where 'it is not a choice'. Their brain is not wired that way no matter how hard they prayed or got beat down by their family and neighbors. Just living like that might be a choice to you...I guess it's like when bitcoin maxis say "Have fun living poor". One can like Chappelles routine without him being right. It takes a little more brain juice to understand him while opening up to what those groups are getting at. Just because you might accept that trans struggles are indeed legit doesn't mean you're on the path of killing comedy. It took me a while to separate crossdressers with transexuals. Work in progress, but we're all self centered people worried more about ourselves than anyone else around us.
Watched the special, but only found out when from a trailer of the release on Netflix than outrage buzz. As a huge fan of Chapelle and his style of comedy, honestly this special fell flat because he stuck on the same topic for so long. If cancel culture killed comedy, it was because Dave spent what felt like an hour out of a 90min special addressing his critics on the trans topic.
Honestly. . .the "two-spirit" thing . . .every article I have seen on this has basically based on one single article . . . . I have not seen a whole lot of research on this . . .. . like I said . . .almost every article about it references the same article/study . . . .. does not inspire confidence for me in its authenticity Rocket River
https://nypost.com/2021/10/11/netflix-ceo-wont-cancel-chappelle-cites-artistic-freedom/ Netflix CEO won’t cancel Chappelle: Controversial stand-up is ‘artistic freedom’ He added, “Several of you have also asked where we draw the line on hate. We don’t allow titles Netflix that are designed to incite hate or violence, and we don’t believe ‘The Closer’ crosses that line.”
And now Gruden? Say it ain't so. Actually, I can't stand him... everything about him seems disingenuous. See ya Chucky!
****, man, I can't even get my insurance to pay for any sort of plastic surgery to go along with my wife's breast reduction (hasn't happened yet), let alone turn my junk inside out.
