After the team has won 4 out of the last 5 games. Several against worthy opponents too. Yes.... there are certainly some warning signs that the Rockets are having some issues that need to get cleaned up if they want to seriously contend this year, and they've lost a few games they should have won but..... Geezus holy crap people are fu$%ing losing their minds around here. There is a much higher likelihood that they get it together and win & defend more consistently really freaking soon then there is that they choose the stupid ass clutchfans way and FIRE MCHALE, TRADE DWIGHT, TRADE everyone else, FIRE MURRAY, etc. etc. etc. and THEN expect to be dominating the Warriors and winning multiple titles overnight. I love the city of Houston, and I love our teams, but holy freaking S#$% our fans man..... that's all i got.
This. No one's calling for his head after 8 games, it's been years. These flaws have been there for his entire tenure as a Rocket. Its just now we have a legit championship team.
Apparently we need simple solutions to our problems: effort, scramble, focus on rebounding, communication and trust each other on defense. Offensively, McHale is clueless as "we're wondering what is going on on that side [of the ball]".
You don't blow up the team, but we need someone that holds players accountable from the best to the worst. Harden - is the answer, and the problem - he doesn't play defense, he doesn't seem to BURN to win - you can't have that guy as the team leader. We need a Battier type, or Chuck Hayes, or Charles Oakley - someone that either inspires or holds them accountable. DD
Well you take away McHale's stretch 4 and then get upset when the spacing is poor on offense? You say Harden doesn't burn with desire to win - the guy was 2nd in MVP voting last year. You say the problem is accountability - yet the Rockets were considered an OVERACHIEVING team last year. I don't know why our offense is so out of funk. But it is. But I also will give him more than 8 games - McHale did an incredible job last year, he has more leeway than 4 loses at the start of the season.
You see that require making the jumper. I only see Thornton benefiting from it right now. But I also see Ariza bricking, brewer bricking, Lawson bricking, Beverly bricking, and the bipolar Harden bricking.
Since this thread has been bumped... There's some logic to be applied here. If the coach(es) is/are so bad, then the 2 nice wins against OKC and the Clippers must have been totally due to the players. If it was, then why do they get absolved when they stink? You can't have it both ways. Heck, if it's just about talent and players effort, who needs any coach? The players have played enough BB in their life to have seen pretty much every type of defense and they surely know what it takes to score -- put the ball through the hoop. The truth lies somewhere between the extremes. Coaches and players both have flaws and make mistakes. This isn't life or death for anyone. Keep some perspective on where BB fandom should be in your life. What real connection, after all, does any sports franchise have to fans? When they win or lose, what real reflection does that have on any fan? Does it make any fan bad or dumb? When you start labeling someone as "trash," "scrubs," and other derogatory terms, as a human being,, pardon me, but I think you've got your priorities in life all screwed up.
No value. He was only popular because he wasn't Lin. Now the bogeymans gone and bevs still who he is. An overrated selfish defender who can't keep up with anyone and one of the least talented offensive players in the league. Lots of folks here let themselves be blinded by their hatred of Lin (whether on or off the court) and saw bev as a viable option when he was laughably and clearly not. He should be a 10-15 minute guy at the most on a good team, with most of his minutes coming in garbage time.
Would rather keep Beverley over Lawson. At least he plays with passion. I see no fight or fire in Lawson at all.
We have a deeper roster and on a given night anyone could off or blow up .288 shooting % night. Team lacks confidence and scrappiness we had last year. My opinions that frustrate me this year: - Brewer looks like a 10 year old dribbling and handing the basketball - harden wants to dribble, pass or sulk he's not getting the calls he used to. F'n drive it in and look to make the layup not get the call - it seems like we are still experimenting with the lineups - any time Lawson and Beverly are on the court together makes me want to punch a baby in the face - if a player is doing well, PLAY HIM! If not, put his a$$ on the bench. They are pros it's the coaches job to manage the egos and get them motivated when in a slump. I'm really hoping Dmo is the missing piece that aligns the stars but I'm already preparing for his piece to be another wrench in the gears and the team "trying to figure out rotations and responsibilities"
He's like our second best 3pt shooter this season behind Thornton and over his career has shot better than brewer or jones, guys that jack them up all the time.
