Right now, I'd say this guy that you think is so pedestrian has more than a little Bobby Jones in him w/ a smidgeon of Larry Legend for good measure. I'm DEFINITELY NOT saying that either HOF great is Chandler's upside, but I'll cut him some slack if he comes up short of those guys. Bill Kennedy actually said he reminded him of Detlef Schrempf. Personally, I think this is a bit of a stretch. Nevertheless, we're fortunate to have Chandler and I'd wager that if he went out in a deal that he would command at minimum 1st round value in the 14-15 range.

His handle is as good as Durant's, maybe better.

He's faster and shiftier than Tayshaun. Tayshaun is more of a crafty, walk it up, between the legs, post up handle. Chandler is pure speed, shift, stop and go type handle.

Bottom line is he can handle very well and he makes very intelligent and quick decisions when he has the basketball in his hands. He facilitates ball movement and he makes the right plays with the ball.

    What? WOW.

Cant go there, bro. Durant gets his own shot with ease.

If Parsons can develop a good jumper, he'll be a good starter in the league for the next decade.

He does everything else well, and plays great defense.

We're not talking about getting your shot. We're talking about the ability to handle the rock. Chandler doesn't handle with the purpose of shooting it. He handles with the purpose of getting to the rim or creating an opportunity to others. At this point, it would be stupid for Chandler to handle so that he can get his own shot until he puts the time in to develop his shot.

Any comparison between Durant and Parsons's games will be flawed due to the extreme difference in roles on their respective teams. (Durant is one of the most unique players in the league).

I like Chandler though and hope he continues to channel his inner Bobby Jones. Gotta get that shot together in a hurry.

Chandler's got that edge. He'll get on teammates when needed. But there's more.

    Check this out

    http://www.nba.com/2011/news/features/chris_dortch/03/19/chandler-parsons/index.html

    and this....

    http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Chandler-Parsons-5050/

Again, TEXNIFICENT, I'm with you all the way on Gentlemen Bobby Jones. But I also see that Larry attitude to go along with the all around game.

    for the doubters .....
Chandler's shown that he CAN shoot it (in college/workouts and up to almost 35% from 3 last month), has a great feel for the game, and is an elite defender.
In addition, the more minutes he plays the better he is. Chandler's finding his place/rhythm. He's obviously put in a lot of work to go with the natural feel/instincts. Also, I think the short stint overseas helped him big time.

Stop with the Bird comparisons. It's just silly. Parsons is not close to having an all-around offensive game...not close.

And he doesn't even have Bird's attitude. He's known for not being aggressive at times and playing within the system rather than being the system, like Bird was. Also, going into slumps and losing confidence in his shot -- how else is he such a poor FT shooter, basically he chokes at the FT line. People who followed him in college have remarked about having strings of games where he losing confidence in his shot.

Really? Dismal? The only bright spot? Give me a break with the stupid hyperbole DD.

When we're the Charlotte Bobcats you can whine about how we have no bright spots and our year has been dismal.

C'mon now. I went out of my way to say that I don't think he's Larry. But he does possess some of the same attributes (work ethic is another). Again, I compare him to Bobby J when talking about his all around game.

On his attitude - Chandler is a rookie 2nd round draft choice while Bird was taken at 6 w/the total package (a top 7-8 player of all time).
In spite of this CP, HAS ALREADY won the starting spot, showed a penchant for being aggressive, AND takes the bull by the horns in imparting advice to his mates.....For a rookie, it's impressive.
He's come in and done what was asked of him...blended in doing the dirty work. Now, as Chandler has gotten more comfortable(while earning the respect Kevin and the rest of the team), Kevin is expanding the scope of his responsibilities....and with the minutes has come more confidence/ production/efficiency.

OMT.......In addition to stroking it better from downtown, he IS getting better from the line. (although that wouldn't be hard)

I suppose I'll let you compare him to Bird. :) Just don't see the need to. Sura had that competitive attitude, too.

Oh, and Bird wasn't really the 6th pick in the 1978 draft, since he didn't declare for it so couldn't play. I like to call him the #1 pick for the 1979 draft, because he indeed got picked before Magic (an entire year before -- lol), and the league made their first Bird Rule preventing teams from ever again drafting a college player without the player declaring first.
