Tough break for whoever lost that lawsuit. The fact is, his career was over long before that car accident.
I don't understand this POV. The same sentiment was made in the NBA Dish, as well. https://bleacherreport.com/articles...injury-lawsuit-settled-for-substantial-amount Remove the fact that he played basketball, for a second. A TBI, disc herniation, torn labrum and other injuries might have impaired, or will impair, him for life. Not just your ability to play basketball. Maybe that description is an over-embellishment by the law offices, but still. "Whoever lost that lawsuit" was charged with a DUI. By saying "tough break" for them, you're essentially siding with the person who was intoxicated.
I know those Harden, Lin, Parsons, Asik teams weren't all that great, but the excitement of watching those guys learn and the possibilities of watching that young core grow was really special. They were just fun to watch. In terms of Houston sports of the last 25 years, I can really only compare it to that Astros core with Altuve, Correa, Springer and Bregman when it was younger. I know the way Parsons left put a bad taste in our mouths, but I prefer to remember him fondly for his short time on Houston. He was a great complimentary player for that team, and it's a bummer his prime was cut short.
Yeah I did not understand that either, but never let the facts stop you from hating on an athlete and I can't believe I am taking up for Parsons. **** that guy.
Ariza>>>Parsons. Parsons could have been really good, but he bought into his own hype and stopped playing defense all together.
Hard to appreciate someone, who burned his bridges with the org. And personally, I've no issues with any fans who choose to keep the good memories. As others said, he was on a cheap contract here. We had him when he was healthy, productive, and didn't have a big head. In my little basketball card binder, I still have his Rookie card along with Marcus Morris, Royce White and Terrence Jones.
Those are the amigos of What Could have been. Terrence Squid Game Williams with the Triple Double in the Development League.
I can't believe how the grizzlies overpaid him even more than Dallas. Pubes gave him two years before bailing on him, yet that made Memphis want Portions even more??
I like Ariza too and he was decent value. I have a feeling Parsons would have helped the Rockets advance over the Warriors in 2018 and would not have gone 0-12. His athleticism back then made his defense compitent and he would punish more than Ariza did on the offensive end.
