What are the chances of us moving up in the draft and into the top 13? Here is a list of some of the trades that recently occurred involving those picks. (I'm sure there are a few I'm missing.) FYI - These are all Draft Day Trades and not trades that happened Pre-Draft since the chances of us trading before the upcoming draft is low.

Also note that I will be putting the draft number listed rather than the player drafted because it is more relevant for Rockets fans. For example, "7th pick" instead of "7th pick - Biyombo."

    2011 - 7th and 10th pick
Bobcats acquired Corey Magette (From Bucks) and 7th pick (Kings)
Kings acquired Salmons and 10th pick (Bucks)
Bucks acquired Uldrih (Kings) and Stephen Jackson/Shaun Livingston/19th pick (Bobcats)

    2010 - 11th pick
OKC acquired Morris Peterson and 11th pick
NO acquired 21st pick, 26th pick

    2009 - None - highest pick moved was 18th

    2008 - 3rd, 5th, 11th, and 13th
    1) Memphis acquired 3rd pick, Marko Jaric, Antoine Walker, Greg Buckner
Minnisota acquired 5th pick, Mike Miller, Brian Cardinal, Jason Collins

    2) Portland acquired 11th pick, Ike Diogu
Indiana acquired 13th pick, Jarrett Jack, Josh McRoberts

    2007 - 5th and 8th
    1) Seattle acquired 5th pick, Wally Szczerbiak, Delonte West, 2008 Second Rounder
Boston acquired Ray Allen and 35th pick

    2) GS acquired 8th pick
Charlotte acquired Jason Richardson and 36th pick

    2006 2nd, 4th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 13th
    1)Portland acquired 2nd pick and a 2007 second rounder
Chicago acquired 4th picj and Viktor Khryapa

2a) Portland acquired 7th pick, Raef LaFrentz and Dan Dickau
Boston acquired Sebastian Telfair, Theo Ratliff and 2008 second rounder

2b) Portland turns the 7th pick into the 6th pick.
    Portland acquired 6th pick
    Minnesota acquired 7th Pick

    3) Memphis acquired 8th pick and Stromile Swift
    Houston acquired Shane Battier

    4) Chicago acquired 13th pick
Philadelphia acquired 16th pick and 2007 second rounder

2005 - none in top 14 were traded

How do these compare to the current Houston Rockets and the possibility of a Kyle Lowry - Draft Day trade?

I would say that the only trades that are comparable to a Lowry trade is:
    2006 - Battier for 8th
2006 - Telfair, Ratliff and Second Rounder for 7th pick
2007 - Ray Allen for 5th pick (and no, I am not comparing Lowry to Allen)
2007 - Jason Richardson and 36th pick for 8th pick
2011 - Bobcats shipped out Stephen Jackson, Shaun Livingston and 19th pick and acquired Magette and 7th pick.

    From this:
I doubt the Rockets will be able to acquire the number 2 pick from Bobcats. However, I do believe that Lowry plus 14th/16th may be able to get us into the top 5 (Kings?)

What can history tell us about our chances in the future?

Its good to know teams are willing to trade top 10 picks. I think we are in with a solid chance at moving up with a combo of Lowry/Martin + 14/16 picks + Morris/Pat/Bud.

Told you we weren't moving into the Top 10 :(

    Odds were against us.
