Yeah, maybe we're a little too pissed, but again, it really is pretty unprofessional when someone who works for the Rockets radio station announces a trade, and it turns out to be a joke. The point is that 610 has broken these kind of stories before. I don't listen to 610 just so I can hear 56 people a day asking if we can trade Bagwell. I listen for these breaking stories, for locker room info, and for the rumors. Because the 610 guys are local, they often have inside info & better knowledge about the local teams than any other media source. THAT'S why people took it so damn seriously. Now that my venting is done, I would just caution Matt to exercise better judgement & try to realize that he represents 610 not just as a guy to bounce crazy trade scenarios off of, but also as someone who is now professionally related to the two big sports teams that the station carries. Be wary of making official sounding announcements regarding those teams. Loose lips sink ships. They also may cause locker room problems...
Seriously, Matt, come out of lurk mode more often. 5 posts in 2 1/2 years? That junior member tag isn't a badge of honor. You probably wouldn't take this kinda heat here if you hung out with us like AB and Chance do.
Chance: Nice damage control. Matt: Chill dude, I knew it was a joke, I found it funny, but others didn't...and well, maybe I'm in the minority. Everyone else: I shrugged it off...cause I knew it was about the birthday blitz and nothing else. I found it pretty funny, although I could see how others could get riled up cause of it. Some people dont care about their status on an internet message board as they do real life. What exactly is it that you guys are getting upset over? A trade rumor that wasnt true? You have to realize that trade rumors ARE NOT SOMETHING TO GET UPSET OVER. Is it that he got your hopes up and then you were smashed when the rumor turned out to not be true? Isnt that what happens to 90% of trade rumors? How can yall be so upset over something so silly?!
I think that this is getting out of control. Unless you don't think it is then I agree with you, this stuff needs to get out. Either way, I'm with you. Sort of. Definitely sort of.
Drew, That is so not the point - this wasn't "yoyao" or some random poster generating the rumor. It was an employee of the Rockets' flagship radio station. Do you not see the difference? THAT'S what made it a big deal. In all my years of listening, I haven't heard Rich or Charlie or Granato all of a sudden say "major trade involving..." and then not tell people it's a joke 'til later.
I agree w/ Rocket G. Rich and Charlie, whenever I listened to them in Houston, they were straight up about trade rumors, waivers, etc. that would help or hurt the team. They didn't need to B.S. to the listeners like Matt J was doing. If he has any real news, then broadcast it on the air. If it's crap or some jokes (like trade rumors), Matt J, save it for your co-workers.

Matt, I think you and Charlie are our two strongest on air personalities. I though the joke was hilarious and couldn't wait to see how the disturbed computer geeks on cc.net would react. (am I a disturbed computer geek?) I miss your show with Jeremy cause yall had some funny damn arguments. With that said, you probably shouldn't post here because the posters here are smarter than gm's, coaches, players and yes on air personalities. It is a no-win situation for you.
