Chelsea just got an early goal aganist Bayern. It's going to be tough for Bayern without Pizzaro and Makaay.

Without his poor defending in Munich Bayern would be out.

    Wow! Amazing goal by Lampard!

    3-1 Chelsea

Bayern's defense has killed them today.

Is that 4-1? Holy crap! So much for rolling over another English team, lol.

    Love this comment on gamecast:

    'Bayern couldn't organize a booze-up in a brewery...'

Who knows what will happen now - Chelsea will still score goals in Munich, but Bayern could dive their way to the semis...

Bayern were just gifted with that penalty in extra time. A blatant dive and he gets rewarded. HORRIBLE!

    4-2 Chelsea FT.

Living in Europe for four months means exactly jack **** in terms of replying to this post.

Why you feel it necessary to **** on someone's soccer related posted by saying soccer sucks is beyond me.

    That was not a dive.

Bayern's defense was horrible today, in addition to a world-class performance by Drogba, and Bayern missing their whole attack because of injuries (Makaay, Pizzarro, Santa Cruz), and Ze Roberto playing like a little girl.

I am willing to make a bet with the first taker for $ 20 that Bayern will eliminate Chelsea in the home game. Makaay, Pizzarro and Demichelis will be back, and we are a force at home. 2-0 or 3-1 should easily be possible, but I am confident it will be more like a 5-0.

Are there any Germans on that team??? All the names you listed seem Dutch or Spanish.

The goalkeeper and Torsten and Ballack are german.
SJC, how about sig's instead of 20 bucks. If, and I mean if, Bayern Munich somehow manage to pull it out and go to the semi's, I'll change my sig to something of your choosing as long as it isn't vulgar or too condescending. There is no way Bayern will keep Chelsea from scoring. How about it?

Kahn, Frings, Ballack, Scholl, and Schweinsteiger are German. Bayern has more Germans than Chelsea has Englishmen... Lampard, Cole, Johnson, and Terry. I'm only talking bout this game, not too sure about the entire squad. Of course the best player on that Bayern squad is Dutch. :D

Anyway, Bayern was lucky with that 4-2. I do believe they have a good chance of going through, but Chelsea has the slight advantage going in with the lead. Nothing is done yet, however. A 4-1 result would have probably meant Bayern out.

Why the optimism SJC? Lol, 5-0?

Come on SJC, there was no doubt about it. Your the first I've heard say that it wasn't a dive, on this or the soccer board I frequent. It was CLEARLY a dive.

    Deal.

Surprise, surprise that people are claiming it was a dive, then. It clearly wasn't. Chelsea fans are just coming up with a preemptive excuse for their exit next Tuesday.

It's not just the Chelsea fans. How can you say that it clearly wasn't a dive? Ballack was hardly touched and he fell down like he'd been shot. Take off the Bayern covered glasses.

Take it from Chelsea's own website:

90+1 Penalty conceded Carvalho tripping Ballack in a melee.

90+2 GOAL Ballack strokes the ball to Cech’s left as he dives right. 4-2.

Unused substitutes Chelsea Smertin, Gérémi, Cudicini (gk), N Morais. Bayern Munich Hashemian, Jeremies, Rensing (gk), Linke, Deisler.

Shots on target Chelsea 9 Bayern Munich 4.

Corners Chelsea 6 Bayern Munich 4.

Fouls Chelsea 16 Bayern Munich 22.

Offsides Chelsea 3 Bayern Munich 0.

Comment Boring, boring Chelsea? After a careful first-half, the number of free-kicks Chelsea concede around the area are paid for with the equaliser. But Lampard shows his world class finishing to put Chelsea beyond reach, only for the controversial stoppage time penalty to keep Munich’s hopes alive. Chelsea are livid as Ballack’s fall was over-dramatic. Mourinho not being on the bench only meant more chants for him and the television cameras constantly pointing at the bench.

    ------------

So what if the fall was a little dramatic - Ballack clearly got tripped and got robbed of a chance to score. Penalty justified. From the horse's mouth (Chelsea's own website).

Totti got sent off for doing the same thing in Korea. And the contact in this case wasn't even close. They can't take the goal back but you can't possibly think that Bayern will shut Chelsea out in Munich. I can't stand Chelsea being a United fan, but they're playing too well to not go all the way and Kahn has already showed that his aura is fading.
