u're right, I don't know. But I'm pretty ok with my statement that He won't accept gay marriage. Others are free to disagree, as I'm sure this topic has been debated countless other times already =)

I'm not too worried about that. If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong. As long as I don't start hating people simply because of their sins, then I'll feel pretty good about the direction in life that God is leading me.

well I didn't deem it :) I would tell you who did, but I have a feeling you've probably already gotten the answer from countless bumper stickers and John 3:16 signs at football games.

When my sister brought home a black guy, my parents didn't like him because 1) he was rude to them, and 2) he was 27 and hadn't worked in 5 years. My sister thought they were being intolerant of him because of his color, but the main issue for them was that he was very rude and was a bum.

my point is that what children sometimes view as intolerance from their parents is really just misinterpretation of the parents intention of wanting the best for their child.

whether you accept this viewpoint and anaology is, of course, based largely on your acceptance of God as a real parenting figure in your life.

And of course there has never been misinterpretation or misunderstanding by many when trying to do so.

there are teachers out there who hate their students, it doesn't mean that there aren't good teachers out there who genuinely care about their students.

I don't know if you qualify here, so please understand I am not talking specifically at you, but rather your last couple of comments reminded me of something and set me off. The one affectation that consistently annoys me when I go to Church is the almost nonstop persecution complex that some people seem to develop, which always seems to always draw on the images of the Romans and the Coliseum.

Not being allowed to post the Ten Commandments in front of the State Capital is not a persecution like Romans rounding up Christians and throwing them to the lions for sport. There is a difference between having to balance your point of view with other points of view and being persecuted. I’m sure it’s probably fun and exciting to pretend that it is you and your secret cabal of Christians against the world but make you look like a ponce.

The prevelance of this little game is one of the many reason that visits to church for me tend to be counterproductive.

We feel our values are under attack. It's more of a silent but deadly attack whereas the christians being fed to the lions was more of a loud but not stinky deal.

Sometimes the students just get it wrong when they are so sure that they are right.

    Whatever Happened To Sin?

    The Christian counselor wrote,
    Quote,
'It's the only human choice ahead
    If you can't support it
Why don't you abort it instead?'

You say you pray to the sky
    Why?
When you're afraid to take a stand down here
'Cause while the holy talk reads like a bad ad-lib
Silence screams you are robbing the crib

Say it ain't none of my business, huh?
    A woman's got a right to choose
    Now a grave-digger
    Next you pull the trigger
    What then?
    Whatever happened to sin?

    I heard a reverend say,
    'Gay
Is probably normal in the good Lord's sight.
    What's to be debated?
    Jesus never stated what's right'

    I'm no theology nut,
    But,
The reverend may be a little confused
For if the Lord don't care
    And He chooses to ignore-ah
Tell it to the people of Sodom and Gomorrah

Call it an alternative lifestyle, huh?
    Morality lies within
    Consciences are restin'
    Please repeat the question again
    Whatever happened to sin?

When the closets are empty and the clinics are full
When your eyes have been blinded by society's wool
When the streets erupt in your own backyard
You'll be on your knees praying to the National Guard
If you don't care now how the problems get solved
You can shake your head later that you never got involved
'Cause the call came ringing from the throne of gold
But you never got the message 'cause your mind's on hold

    A politician next door
    Swore
He'd set the Washington arena on fire
    Thinks he'll gladiate 'em
But they're gonna make him a liar

Well, he's a good ol' boy
    Who was born and raised
In the buckle 'o the Bible belt
But remember when you step into the voting booth
He'll never lie, he'll just embellish the truth

Promises were made to be broken, huh?
You've got to play the game to win
    When you need supporting
Tell 'em that you're born again
    Whatever happened to sin?
