That is true which is why banning people because of sexual orientation is ridiculous.
And under Don't Ask Don't Tell we have have lost military personel also.

Santorum is doing the samething though by demanding that the military enforce a narrow view of sexual morality.

And I find being in close corners with someone who is openly a Jazz fan to be very disruptive and a 100% of Rockets fans who serve in the military will agree with me. As I said before your discomfort is on you not on a homosexual who conducts themself according to military regulations. If your personal comfort is that important to you that you cannot handle being around someone who is different than you you might want to consider being in a line of work that doesn't require you to work in close quarters with people of diverse backgrounds.

As noted the Israeli military has gays serve openly and it doesn't seem to affect their performance.

Regular medical screening can address that. Anyway from the stories I've heard and observing Navy guys on shore leave in Asia a lot of the straight guys probably have STD's too.

You may be on to something. Just think how VERY disruptive it will be to the enemy to be killed by a gay guy. It could be our secret weapon to demoralize the enemy.

ha... In all actuallity the military believes that gayness lowers morale, that's why they tried to develop a gay bomb.

Yes you are right that is it.. That is the only reason someone can have for not liking ****... Nothing to do with their predatory nature, their astronomical aids rate, and the fact that I find it disgusting and inmoral. Why is it I can't go into the womens latrine and watch them shower? I'm a grown man, I can watch them and not get a raging hard on, I have self control. Why is there such a double standard.

First of Boy, **** you!!! who the **** do you think you are to question my profesionalism? Do you know me? have you ever served? have you ever led troops into combat? Who the **** do you think you are you ****in ungreatful piece of ****.. If it wasn't for soldiers like myself fighting to defend this nation you're ass wouldn't have the right to make such disrespectful comments. YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE MILITARY!!!! There are probably only about 10-20% of Active Duty military members that think that letting openly gay men serve is a good idea. We don't have jobs at McDonalds or whatever the **** you do where having low morale, or distractions, is a viable option. When we have low morale people die! When we have distractions people die! This will be the one of the dumbest moves in American Military history, and I hope our Joint Chiefs of Staff will make sure that word gets out!

Well, hopefully this means we will say goodbye to this character of yours, which, again, could be interpreted as pretty disrespectful to actual military guys. I don't care much, but I imagine there are many who would.

Good riddance - this ID sucked. Please do a better job next user ID.

    TIA

PS - pederasty was rampant in Ancient Sparta among military men - something that should ring clear and true to your amorous heart....

Apparently someone got booed pretty heavily at CPAC for suggesting that the Republican party should discriminate against gay people.

The only people left who support this stuff are wingnuts, and old men screaming "get off my lawn". Even the young Republicans support gay rights. The tide of history is washing away bigots like Pop Rox as we speak.

Ah, the ol' Wisdom of Repugnance argument. It seems to be a congenital flaw of the weak minded. You can't articulate any valid logic, beyond "it disgusts me and you are going to hell". If you are still alive in 30 years, you are going to be one bitter old man when the young pro-Gay Republicans come of age. You'll have to start posting on Stormfront or something. I hear Westboro Baptist Church is looking to recruit.

Lots of fun watching this mayonnaise turn. What's your plan for all those openly gay airmen, Slop Cox: towel party or Code Red? Or maybe just a Sheppard's Special?

There is no question about your lack of professionalism. If you can't handle serving with openly gay soldiers you aren't as professional as you should be.

I wasn't questioning your lack of professionalism. I was pointing out that(at least by your words on this board) are unprofessional.

The better question is who are you to claim that our armed forces aren't able to still do their jobs and be professional in an army with lesbians and homosexuals? Do you honestly think our troops aren't capable of doing what the Israelis and Brits are already doing?

According to the article there never was an attempt to develop a gay bomb just a proposal along with a note that all sorts of proposals are submitted to the Air Force.

[rquoter]Air Force spokeswoman Lt. Col. Cathy Reardon said the idea was proposed by an Air Force researcher at a lab at Brooks Air Force Base in Texas, but it was rejected by the Defense Department. Officials noted that the Air Force constantly is considering funding proposals.

Leaving aside your moral outrage I am going to point out that what we are not talking about gay marriage but allowing gays to serve openly without discrimination. Several state laws currently have laws specifically banning discrimination based on sexual orientation.

Also consider that the military integrated in 1948 at a time when many states still had segregation laws and 6 years before Brown V. Board of Education legally ended government segregation. The military in that regard was ahead of many states in regard to integration even though there were many in the military who thought it was a bad idea that would harm morale.

    A good first step.

Thank goodness these issues see progress, unlike the abysmal gay rights stance by Bush and the previous administration.
