Michael Gilchrist has length and he has athletic ability. Do you think Gilchrist doesn't have length and is not athletic?
Wow, MGK the #2 pick in the draft? I know he is good but he plays with two of the best front-court players in the country (the country's best frontcourt). Same with McAdoo, take away Barnes, Zeller, Henson and Marshall and what type of player is he? I think PJIII is too high and Terrence Jones is too low.
Even with the two of the best front court players in College Kidd-Gilchrist able to grab about 8 rebounds a game. Elite rebounder at his position, elite defender, elite finisher. Needs to work on his jumper though. If he wasn't on a team full of stars his numbers would be better than they are now.
The spurs traded George hill for 15th pick and also spurs got Indiana 42 pick..he (hill) is not on Lowry level so I believe that we could def get better than that especially when u add a Houston (knicks) pick and or pic from mavs..I agree most teams in that mode want a young to develop, IMO Lowry is still a young enough to be a building block for a young team
and that would be lowry's ideal match. a team like the pacers who have already past the development stage and is looking to add a piece to make a playoff run. ironically the rockets are more of buyer of veteran talent than a seller of it. The fringe of the lottery is were you might find a player for lowry, a team like portland for example might take a flyer on him.
Just to clarify, I mean't DORON Lamb, not Jeremy Lamb. I think Jeremy will be pretty good... Doron Lamb's one good skill is shooting, beyond that I don't see much at all. Jeremy Lamb on the other hand can shoot, defend, rebound, plus he has really good handles from what I have seen.
I don't think Morey is going to keep a high pick anyway, he will try to trade it for a star because Leslie is in win now mode! I can see it happen: we draft a guy at a position we do not need, is unknown or somebody we all love is still available and we keep him or we get a great guy and pair him with Martin / Lowry / Scola for a new starting PF / SG.
^^ If something like Gay for Battier happens again I'd go crazy, win now is the last thing we need right now.
Wroten I agree. He seems to be slotted in the late 1st round by most if not all mock draft boards. He is Tyreke Evans minus the selfishness, better passer, but not as good offensively. I want the Rockets to draft potential all-star/superstars with PJ3 and Tony Wroten and both pre draft workouts are in range to draft.
If we miss the playoffs id love to see Us snag lamb with knicks pick, henson with your pick, and Wroten with the 21st pick lol. Id almost be okay with not trading up for davis...2 of those 3 will probably be all start qaulity players. Royce White would also be intriguing but scared hed be another T will. Do everything well but nothin great...may not have a spot in the nba.
Rockets do need some stars Exactly. I had a trade scenario with the Rockets getting LMA and Iggy with Portland getting Lowry, Scola, pick(s) and Sixers getting Martin, Budinger, and Patterson. We resign Lee, draft PJ3 and Tony Wroten, bring over Donatas and maybe Lull and BOOM! We have a young good defensive team that would make the playoffs with star/all-star/superstar potential in Donatas, PJ3, and Wroten.
Last year traded number 1 Last year. Clippers pick to Cleveland. Of course they didn't know at the time it would be number 1. They could have the next CP3 on their team for 4 years cheap and kept Eric Gordon. Oh well!
Henson = Hakim Warrick I don't mind Beal or Lamb with the first pick available but I doubt either one drops out of the top 10 which the Rockets won't have. Don't want Henson. He'll be a taller version of Hakim Warrick. Role player getting garbage points who is a twig. Rather shoot for the moon at PJ3, Leonard, Rivers, T.Jones, or other players of that caliber. Wroten should be a no brainer especially if we don't have Lowry and/or Dragic next year.
may not have known...but they were okay with the possibility...otherwise they would have protected it with top 1 or 2. They did that just to eat a huge contract... The rockets can offer to do that. Just saying The wizards and bobcats would listen.
Problem is barring a big trade...we dont need 3 players...we need maybe one. Thats why I feel we will package these guys for a player or try to move into the top 5.
Given the unpredictability of the draft (Thabeet @ #2 for example) I subscribe to the Jimmy Johnson drafting theory. You draft as many good players as you can, let them compete against each other and the cream will rise to the top. There are maybe 20 really good players in this draft, which ones have the will to excel no one knows. But your odds of hitting on the 1 who will make a real difference in the NBA are better by taking 3 than 2. And your odds of the draft not being a total bust are better with 3 picks than 2. I can see Martin and/or Scola's minutes being available by the trade deadline next year so we can take on two starter/rotation players. If we draft 3 , one will probably be in the Development league by his skill level and/or one could be a Euro stash. This is a good draft to get numbers, better than I have seen in a long time.
1st pick eating contract not happening Well it's too late to do that now. And do you think the Clippers still make that trade on draft day knowing they have the 1st pick instead of the trade deadline? NO WAY! So us eating a nasty contract for the first to third pick ain't happening. Clippers are just stupid for not protecting their pick. No smart GM gives up their top 5 pick the first go around unless for superstar. Put layers of protection on it. And neither the Wiz or 'Cats have terrible contracts worth giving up their pick for.
