It was one of those horrible posts you see in the offseason that makes you want to cringe. I could have offered a sarcastic comment, but I'm in a pretty good mood today.

LoL, that is too good to be true.

I would prolly replace Head with the 26th pick or Span to sweeten the deal.

You know, if we make this trade for Artest, retain Bonzi, then sign Francis for the MLE, our starting lineup looks like this:

    Francis
    Bonzi
    T-Mac
    Artest
    Yao

IMO, this would be a scary team. We could run with ANYONE, we'd have multiple standout perimeter defenders, we'd have a ton of guys who can create their own shot.

What intrigues me the most is the fact that while this lineup doesn't have anyone who even approaches the description of a traditional power forward, EVERY ONE of those other four guys is a way-above-average rebounder for a swingman. They could rebound by committee, and I don't think we'd lose much in that department. It would be like the Phoenix Suns, except with (lots) more defense and a huge Chinese guy.

    Make it happen Morey!!!!!

    EDIT:
And that idea of Battier + Howard for AK instead of the Artest trade gives us the same kinda of team... just with AK instead of Artest. I think I like that lineup even better... only problem is AK's contract.

Dude I know you are a long time member so respect but you are a freaking idiot. Battier the best perimeter defender in the game for Haslem a guy who would be only a little upgrade from Juwan/Hayes and would only leave us with a huge hole in depth.

I just don't see Artest getting way with PF in the West. He's outsized on a nightly basis. I'm also not sure if I want Francis in charge of running a motion offense.

I am not quite sure why people keep on bringing up Rashard Lewis. There is no way in hell we are going to sign him. Do you guys really think we can afford 3 max players?

i wouldnt pulll the trigger on that trade either, but.....battier, best perimeter defender in the game? battier isn't the best at anything in the game, except maybe being the best at getting heaps of praise despite not really doing that much.

I agree -- that's THREE KNUCKLEHEADS in the starting lineup! Sixty percent of our team would be likely to flake out on a moment's notice.

wow artest for that would be an amazing feat. almost francis, cato, and mobley for mcgrady and juwan. except this is win-win on both sides.

sac gets a first-round pick, decent potential in snyder, and i think real good potential in v-span(i like what i saw from him). they also unload artest who is no use to them as they're likely not even a playoff team with him.

I would love to get AK47 on the team at the 4 in that proposed deal. We could send away Rafer or Big Jake to match salaries within 25%. He would play fantastic defense next to Yao, esp as a weakside shotblocker. He can pass from the high post, he is a very good off the ball defender. He would work very well in Adelman's set. Much better than Shane Battier or Juwon Howard. I don't see the Rocket's doing it, though, because of the money. Even though it is swapping existing money -

    Yao - 13 m
    AK47 - 13 m
    Artest - 7
    Tmac - 17m
    James - 5 m

    sixth man - Wells

That would be 55 million to starters. We could have Wells, Deke, Hayes, Novak, Alston on a bench. even with the best case in resigning guys - thats another 10.5 mil. Does Les pay 65.5 mil?

Of course any real 4 is going to cost money. If you go cehaper you take a risk on a guy that hasn't quite panned out, like Darko or Channing Frye. The only way out is to draft one. Maybe Big Baby could come in and play a role.

you obviously didn't read it all the way through then, but then again clearly comprehension isn't your strong suit.

I know our draft pick is low but I'm not comfy giving it up for a guy with 1 yr left on his contract....especially when that guy is Ron Artest. I would love to have him on the team though, but him being able to leave next year and go to a city to help promote his new album would be kinda scary, lol....

I heard a Sac source saying this deal isn't happening. Not enough for Sac.

I'd throw in Head, too, if it helps, just keep Battier at all cost for Ron.

Just say no to Artest. He is a real trouble maker.

    I wouldn't do the trade.

We've developed a bad habit of trading assets for players that are good but will never be stars. I don't like the Rudy Gay trade at all. Battier is a great "glue" guy, but we need more pieces to "glue" together.

VSPAN, Synder, and 1st rounder....I don't know. I'd rather do Battier for Artest straight up.

It's just too risky. I say pass on Artest.

I would do the trade without blinking

Artest is exactly what we need, even tho a headcase I think he is at a position where everything is behind him. I don't think he can do much more damage to himself or some other team than he already did the previous 3-4 years....

He would be on a proven team, with proven stars and a headcoach he likes. Loosing Span and Snyder to me personally would be difficult since I want to see them grow here. Also why would Span come back and try his luck on a different team? Does not make much sense, but if he is not in the deal I could see Luther or someone else go.

Like I said before, we got to get one of these two guys: Artest or Bibby..

AK47 would be perfect next to Yao and cover his weaknesses to a T. His salary, though, is rather shocking, to say the least. Les would have to open his pocket book, big time. Disagree about Wells being 6th man, however, unless he accepts the player option. Besides the obvious baggage from last season, we're going to need to keep payroll low. Howard for James, of course, is a no-brainer. Artest is a risk, but one worth taking, if Sacto would go for the deal. A bigger risk than Artest's personality is what happens with his contract. Need some way to insure keeping him here, if we deal for him. How?

Would prefer that it was a future 1st, but if we could get a first from Utah, it'd make up for it. Would be surprised if the Jazz want to do this deal, but as was pointed out, Battier is the perfect Sloan player... he'd be all over that, and would be happy to lose the huge salary for AK47, and to lose the drama. (you just know that stuff had to be driving Sloan nuts. he's no zen master like Phil in Laker Land) We've dealt with Utah before, so it's not impossible that it could happen, and they have to be worried about payroll!
