I'd rather have mike bibby instead. We don't need artest when we have battier.

Bonzi and Artest on the same team would? In three weeks they would be busted in some sort of herb selling, dog fighting, woman abusing fiasco that would embarrass the franchise.

Sweet! I've been hoping for some rumor that linked us to Artest... I believe he is our answer at the four. He makes us versatile like the Warriors, Mavs or Suns and gives us a pitbull against Jazz and Spurs. If we trade for Mike James, is there anyway the Sonics go for Alston, Battier and a future pick. Watson was injured a couple times and Ridnour has been a disppointment. Luke could bring them something valuable in trade and Rafer gives them a solid backup pg in the rotation.

    Wilcox
    Durant
    Battier
    Allen
    Watson/Alston

of course we might not need Shard for more offense. Our 3 ball will hurt but hopefully there will be a revival of the forgotten mid range game. A resigned Wells is enough firepower. Keeping Battier gives us a solid 6th man with 3ball skills.

    Yao
    Artest
    Tmac
    Wells
    James

With Battier off the bench out team seems to pack a good balance of Offense and Defense.

why would you put bonzi, tmac, james, yao and artest in the same lineup???not enough basketballs to go around. remember you have to save something for the 2nd unit...so at the least you start rafer and now you can bring some offense off the bench when yao/tmac/or whoever get a rest

If this is true the Kings aren't asking for much. I still want to wait and see who will be around for us in the draft. If the Rockets don't get a player that can help us I would make the trade for Artest.

You are right. It also Might be like pouring gas on a fire with him in the lineup too!! If you had Steven Jackson and Sheed in that lineup it may be the Hall of Flame team.

I still very much doubt Bonzi Well would return. He's not picking up $2.5 million option at age 31 to enter free agency a year older. He shouldget as much cash as he can now in a free agent deal.

The Rockets also wouldn't be the team to spend a big chunk of their MLE on a guy with his kind of injury history at his age.

If Artest comes, Bonzi has got to go. Artest and Bonzi are too similar on offensive and together are too much of a headache. Plus, I don't see how you can pay TMac, Yao, Artest, and Bonzi with enough left over for a PF or a bench.

Been nice to know you, Baklava. Hopefully we can draft another pastry or two in the second round this year...preferably ones willing to 'bid their time' and be a little more patient.

This trade is only worth doing without the 1st round pick. Artest has an opt-out in 2008 and if something go wrong, the Rockets are boo hoo.

Moreover, Artest is erractic in offense and excellent in defense. Rick Adelman kept Artest and Bonzi happy in Sacramento by giving them the ball. In the Rockets, I dont know if Artest will be happy in the offense end since the Rockets already have T-Mac and Yao. So, its a high risk, high reward gamble. But giving up the 1st round pick in the trade, I will really hesitate.

This is the quote when Bonzi was FA last summer and Artest wanted him back. Of course, Artest's kidding. But Artest felt like Bonzi played good defense with him in the Kings. IIRC, with Artest's arrival in the Kings, the ppg by opponents went down 4 and it's mainly the impact of Artest and Bonzi played defense together.

I was hoping the second unit had Battier, Francis, Alston, and Darko (for the MLE)...man that would be great amount of talent. Lot's of headcase...but much more talent than last year. Plus Bonzi makes up for Artest not being a strong rebounder (solid but not great).
    Second unit-
    Darko
    Hayes
    Battier
    Francis
    Alston

Are you kidding the fact that you even have to say that is crazy. V-span can't shoot, can't board, and can't dish. He also missed a lay-up in every game he played I have done alot of scouting on him with his Greece days and he is just not an Nba talent. Awesome overseas but not here. Get over it!!

maybe I'm in the minority here, but I don't think you trade battier. what happens if artest goes crazy? don't get me wrong -- I do the trade if that's what they're asking, but I say you keep battier. artest CAN play the 4.

this leaves us with the full MLE to play with, to sign a PG, or as others have stated you trade juwan for james. this leaves us with:

    james // rafer
    bonzi // luther
    tmac // battier
    artest // chuck // novak
    yao // dikembe

honestly, in my opinion you do not trade for james if you get artest and bonzi resigns. a better alternative if *crosses fingers* the stevie buyout goes through and you end up with:

    francis // rafer
    bonzi // luther
    tmac // battier
    artest // chuck // howard
    yao // dikembe // novak

NOW THAT IS A TEAM, and it's not that far fetched either. I assume that if we get artest, between him and adelman bonzi stays another year (especially if we promise to reward him next year.

I've been saying for awhile that vince will opt out to try and sign with the rockets -- now you never know what is going on unless your name is tracy or vince here but...even though it gives us too many sgs, my opinion is if you can sign someone of vc's talent you don't pass it up. we would then need to trade however for a PG at least.

    james // alston // head
    carter // bonzi
    tmac // battier
    artest // chuck // novak
    yao // dikembe

I don't think any of these lineups are all that far fetched, do I think any of them will happen? probably not, too many things need to fall into place. however, each of these lineups is achievable...and wow would some of them be nasty or what?

If it got us Artest, who cares. Would love to hang on to the pick though.
