its very easy to guard dirk bro. even tmac can shut him down.

amare, i think artest can guard hi mstraight up but not when phoenix uses him in the pick and roll.

hayes can guard boozer. man we should have put yao on ak47. let ak47 shoot all day. put hayes on boozer and tmac on okur.

He guarded Rasheed when they play detriot and did a good job...he can shut down the wilcoxs, moores, haslems, hayes, harrigntons, fryes, and the other 10 or so medocre starting 4's...he matchs up nicely against the odoms and the goodens, he held garnett, gasol and dirk under 15 in three straight games...as per (ESPN SACRAMENTO, Calif) AP- "He was remarkable in recent home wins, guarding Pau Gasol, Dirk Nowitzki and Kobe Bryant with equal adeptness while hitting big baskets on the other end" ...and he is perfect for Dirk cause he is quick and has long arms...he guards Amare and Marion when they play the Suns...and big huge Boozer is a whooping 1 inch 6 pounds bigger than Artest...he isn't exactly going to be manhandling him.

Look Artest is better 4 than anything we had this year...we almost got out of the 1st round this year...He is not an offensively liability...and if the rumor is true...he cost us nearly nothing...he is bigger, stronger, faster than Hayes and can score the Basketball... who else is can we realistcally get for our trash that is better?

Are we expecting this guy to land either Leiws or Artest without givining up Yao and Tmac,If he does, he should be the GM of rockets for as long as he wants

I think Battier is better for us than Haslem...Battier still gives us some 3 point threat...and Artest has a better chance on big guys with his size...sorry I came off harsh...I just didn't understand the logice of Haslem being better on big guys when he is smallerand slower...quickness is very important in defense...

    James
    Mac
    Battier
    Artest
    Yao

Do this trade, sign Francis to the MLE, trade Battier and Alston for Rashard.

    Francis
    McGrady
    Artest
    Lewis
    Yao

    I AM THE KING GM!

there are some really stupid trades that people are posting here involving shane battier. some of them are stupid to a point where it just worth bashing.
    haslem for battier?!?
    shane +26th pick for wilcox?!?

if we offer shane out, it'd better be someone good. we could easily land artest if we offer battier, and mark it, easily. No one in the league can disagree with that. so if we're throwing battier for some random filler plaer than we might as well get artest.

Duncan shoots over everyone. Artest will have a lower center of gravity to keep Duncan out of the paint and can abuse him with fronting much like other team's do to Yao. Duncan is 6'11" 260lbs. Artest is 6'7" 260lbs. Plus you are forgetting the most important thing. Duncan has to guard Artest too. Oh that is unless the Spurs pull their charade of a center out and have Duncan play center against Yao. Then someone like Horry plays against Artest. The point is many teams will not keep their bruiser PF in against Artest because then that bruiser PF has to chase Artest around.

I think I would try to acquire both Rashard and Artest... this is my reasons why...

    1. Artest possesses that bull dog mentality that we drastically lack. Think about no more games where the Rockets are playing complacent for most of the game looking like they are just going through the motions... You remember how we had so much trouble closing out games when we had the lead? That was a testimony to the personalities of Yao and T-Mac... Artest would light that much needed fire under thier butts.

    2. Rashard gives us a player that can create his own shot... Think about all of the elite teams in the West. Dallas, SA, and Phoenix... Those teams have atleast 4 players that can create their own shot. Who do we have now? T-Mac, Yao, and... uhhh nobody else. We need this talent to compete in a conference that is becoming even more loaded with the additions of Durant and Oden. Rashard will also provide us with more length and athelticism... But most of all we NEED the Talent.

    3. The Battier Factor... Ok so I am not sold on letting him go for Rashard, because he is consumate professional and adds that will to win. But that being said on the court he is a poor man's Artest... but off the court he is a saint... If Battier was a keeper he would do more than just shoot open threes on offense... I think that he is good but expendable...

Imagine this line up... this is w/o any use of the MLE or LLE because i think anything can happen with that... but this is my dream line for opening day... i know its a pipedream so don't call me out on that but i'm a college kid soo i can hit it a little bit and pray it happens :D

    Rafer (Hopefully hes gone)
    T-Mac/ Bonzi
    Artest/ Novak
    Lewis/ Hayes/ Howard
    Yao/ Jake/ Deke

This causes match-up problems for any team... I'd probably try to trade rafer for a rebounding specialist PF for those games we play big teams... and im all aboard for that Howard for James deal...

snyder can get to the hoop but just can't get it through, ie he just misses the layup or dunks too often. if he can be packaged for an elite player like artest then yes i'm all for it.

    Hmmm let's think about this......

An All-Star caliber player that can score and create his own shot. The 2004 Defensive Player of the Year. A physical monster that can guard just about anybody on the floor and has that "enforcer" attitude that our squad currently lacks. Basically, a player that's capable of changing a game and pushing us over the top ALL FOR $7-8 MILLION A YEAR.

For what? Sura's dead deal? Snyder? Wow, I guess there aren't 100 players in basketball exactly like Snyder (and in most cases better). V-Span? Give me a break....and a late first rounder that has little to no value in the grand scheme of things.

Gosh. You know what? I think it might be wise of us to make this deal if what that little twerp Chad Ford is reporting is legitimate.

    I would trade:

Rafer Can't shoot / Tracy badback McGrady / Howard the Useless

    for

Bibby comeback player 07-08 / Artest the headcase / SAR the softy

    Bibby
    Artest
    Battier
    SAR
    Yao

    as the starting 5.

we get rid of all the salary cap/health issue players...yes Artest is a gamble, but he's healthy physically and can shut down some of the best players in the league....all he needs is the right setting.

If you could keep Artest and Battier imagine that we'd be a lockdown team defensively. Those two guys one defense are going to cause a lot of problems to opposing teams. Artest brings offense too and I think T-Mac and Artest respect each other. As far as getting into fights? If Artest goes off can you see T-Mac Yao or Battier Head go after anyone? I think they'd just stand there and watch.

We don't have hotheads on our team like Steven Jackson, or Jermaine O'Neil or Reggie Miller.

If you think about the personalities on our team, about the only one who would get into the mix in a fight would be Rafer Alston. Now if you brought Francis back on the team with Artest..yeah I could see Francis backing up Artest and getting into a fight.

    Alston or ?
    Tmac
    Artest
    Wilcox
Yao............Not too shabby for an up and coming team.

Maybe Francis would sign for cheap due to his boy Wilcox, who knows stranger things have happened.

I would still hold on to JHo for a backup, scoring PF.

I like the youth and tenacity of this team and would enjoy it for years to come.

the proposed Artest works in realgm and Battier + lucas will work for Wilcox.

Just brainstorming......will acknowledge better deals if presented.

There has been the rumor of a Howard/Mike James swap.

    So why not

    MJ/ Rafer
    T-Mac/ Bonzi
    Artest/ Novak
    Lewis/ Hayes
    Yao/ Jake/ Deke

With anyone we can get from our MLE.

But the problem could be......then we should expect any of our starter at 2-5 to miss a significant amount of games. And if you look closely, our bench really sucks in this lineup.

Your highness, who would you select with the #26 pick?

I love this squad with limitations. I love the intensity of Francis and Artest to offset the placidity of Yao, TMac and Lewis. Would it be enough? I don't know but it would be fun to watch...
