Boston would probably be thrilled that they could roll the dice on Muhammad at 16... will probably be a bust, but there is at least a chance for something there.
Steal like Sullinger/Melo. High risk, high reward, except a 1st round pick in the teens really isn't that much of a risk.
I was bored; compared it to Draftexpress' latest Mock. (Red being further back in the draft & green being earlier, i.e. Caldwell-Pope being 9 here and 19 for DE, so a 10) 0 Nerlens Noel 3 Victor Oladipo 0 Otto Porter 2 Anthony Bennett 3 Ben McLemore 2 Alex Len 0 Trey Burke 5 Michael Carter-Williams 10 Kentavious Caldwell-Pope 2 C.J. McCollum 0 Cody Zeller 2 Steven Adams 8 Dario Saric 1 Dennis Schroeder 1 Shane Larkin 7 Shabazz Muhammad 1 Rudy Gobert 0 Jamaal Franklin 7 Sergey Karasev 3 Mason Plumlee 9 Kelly Olynyk 2 Gorgui Dieng 0 Reggie Bullock 0 Tony Mitchell 3 Allen Crabbe 2 Jeff Withey 6 Ricky Ledo 1 Lucas Noguiera 0 Giannis Antetokounmpo 4 Glen Rice Jr. But, I'm curious which mock draft blinks first, considering how large the discrepancies are (Olynyk, Muhammad, Saric, Caldwell-Pope). Their top 7 shift in order, but not much movement with them. 8 and 9? Intrigue! (Required some handwork, so no promises I didn't mess up somewhere.)
I'm in love with Oladipo's game and work ethic... not surprised at all to see him #2. I'd love to see him on the Rockets.
I agree with you. He does not have limitless upside but he has a good chance at becoming an NBA all star. Teams too often pass up "very good" for the slight chance at "greatness".
playing what position? Hypothetically, if we did get him, he'd come off the bench. I think he's capable of being an impact player for one of those lottery teams that draft him. With that said, I'd trade Asik/Parsons for the #2 pick to draft him, ASSUMING Howard made up his mind about him signing here, which he wouldn't have come draft night.
Withey reminds me of Cole Aldrich from a few years back. I don't think he'll make much of an impact player in the NBA.
Feels like an Evan Turner to me, if you reversed his offensive and defensive acumen. There's just so little potential there for breaking out that you almost are forced to gamble on a higher risk higher reward player at #2. If it doesn't work out, then there's always next year. If you take Oladipo and he's basically Kawhi Leonard or Nicholas Batum pt. 2 then you are stuck picking at 8-13 for the next three years. I suppose Oladipo's ceiling in my mind, making him worth #2, would be Luol Deng. He's just not nearly as good as Deng in ball handling (and he's smaller and plays a different position I know. there just aren't any good SG comps in the league right now).
Outside of playing for a Big Ten team, he's not really anything like Evan Turner (or Deng). Turner had above average athleticism with pretty polished ball handling and shooting skills when he came into the league. Oladipo is a freakishly explosive athlete who is still honing his basketball skills. When he started at Indiana, he couldn't hit a shot to save his life. Now, he's a solid shooter from the college three. He's got good form on his shot, and he'll keep getting better. Oladipo is a beast defensively. I could see him being the same kind of menace that Tony Allen and Avery Bradley are on that side of the ball, harassing point guards and shooting guards throughout the game. He's also incredibly competitive in a Jordan-esque "I'll do whatever it takes to destroy you" kind of way. Offensively, I think he'll be solid to very good in time. He's quick enough to get to the basket, athletic enough to finish above the rim, and his jump shot should only get better. I think giving up Parsons and Asik to get him would be way too high of a price to pay, but he'll be a nice addition for whoever gets him.
Meh, your opinion. If we get Howard, I'd want to get rid of Asik for sure. And unlike most people on here, I don't mind trading Parsons. I don't even think Orlando would accept that offer to be honest.
to be fair, as blah as Shabazz's background may be, he's not going to be THAT bad. but I have a feeling Glen Rice Jr will end up being the better player.
