Ironically Knicks trading for lin is a smart decision, since they would save about 20 million in luxury tax and possible penalty in this scenario than if they matched the offer in 2012. The cap hit now will be 8 mil.

Shumpert and Hardaway Jr are the only players on that entire roster that I would have any interest in at all. But those two salaries don't match for Lin, and no way would I want any of their junk added just to make the salaries match.

In order to do a deal with the NYK, I'm sure we would have to take on a contract from one of these players, JR Smith, Baragani, or Artest.
