Bosh is a good player, but turns the ball over just as much as Yao does. Plus he doesn't attract nearly the attention Yao gets. The problem is that any team with a average big man absolutely destroys us time and time again. We (raptors) make them look like all stars. (we make Yao look immortal) I think the same can be said for more than 2/3 of the teams out there. So Yao for Bosh + Alston + a 1st pick? hell ya. You guys will just be like what Toronto was with Vince. A sub .500 team in the lowly eastern conference. (perhaps worse because of your lack of role players)
I'd also like to add... if we do make that trade with you guys, we'd be in the top half of our conference regardless of what scrubs are playing with Yao.
How about the Lakers' giving you a star: Odom, a starter: Grant, and their next season's first round draft Pick? For salary purposes, the Lakers could take on MoT and Weatherspoon. So the trade is like: Yao, MoT, Wetherspoon for Odom, Grant, and 2006 Lakers' first round pick. Sounds good, does it not?
Your post was dumb, regardless of the other post. 1) Your trade does not work cap-wise. 2) Anyone that suggests trading Yao for anyone other than maybe Duncan, KG, Dirk or possibly Lebron needs to be shot, quartered or something like that.
what I think is funny about these deal is this - if these guys are superstars and franchise players... why are their teams still bad ? Yao had a winning record in year one, went to the playoffs in year 2, and (after a hiccup in Nov-Dec) seems like he and Tmac might make it there again when was the last time Brand or J Rich sniffed the playoffs... you don't trade Yao period but if you MUST discuss trades, look at star players from teams that are actually good
My original thinking was I wouldn't trade Yao unless it was obviously a steal of a deal... In other words it would surpass the normal-- trade Yao for blah, blah, and blah... something like Gasol, Swift and 2 #1 picks (if Swift was a sign and trade) and I realize you would have to send some salary . or Dirk, Dampier and a #1 for Yao In other words if someone called and offered something ridiculously crazy I would do it. If Yao has the trade value of a Shaq or Duncan or Kobe or Lebron then something like this might get offered. I would do it. I am not saying I want to trade Yao. I do like our mix, Yao and TMac, and I am all for building around them. I just think if something really crazy good was offered for Yao was , it would be fine with me. I also realize I haven't checked salaries and some deals would require us to dump some salary in the deal. Anyway, I don't want us to trade him, but he is not untouchable. I think TMac is untouchable and Dream was untouchable.
Please do not call others "dumb" when you list Yao together with TD, Dirk, KG, and James. Yao is not in that league.
If I were the Rockets, Tmac is more touchable than Yao. Like the other person said, outside of getting Duncan, Garnett, Dirk, and James... you just can't deal Yao. (and those teams probably won't deal them for Yao either) As far as Tmac is concerned? I'd trade him for the right players. Peja & Bibby (both great shooters and bibby is a great pg, great clutch player as well).. Bosh + Mo Pete + 2 first rounders (most likely lottery picks).... I know the salaries don't match, just using them as examples...
I know you have at least one popular and beloved member on this board who agrees with you. His name is C-H-A-R-V-O.
What about the question of staying in the US instead of going to China in the off season. I think that would help his game as much as anything. He gets winded so quickly...he hasn't a rest since the ROX drafted him?????
Throw in Mihm and Ward and laker's 2nd rounder and some cash I think CD may consider it. How long is Grant's contract?
Yao plus Mo for Boozer AND Kirilenko is about the only trade (that works) that I'd seriously consider - but Utah wouldn't, at least I don't think they would...
Kirlenko is max. Boozer is near max and has been critisized left and right on Jazz board and general NBA forums for his poor defense. I'll pass on that trade.
