Francis has made the playoffs exactly ONCE. It was in one of his worse seasons too, and with JVG to boot. When he was averaging his 21-6-6, he wasn't winning games.

he's overrated because he was labeled as a franchise player once he entered the league. i don't even know if he can even be a key role player.

he labelled himself the "franchise." i don't think anyone around the L took him as a superstar/franchise player. he was never a superstar in houston. he was an all-star yes.

???? When he made the playoffs he averaged 16 6 and 6 and played well under Van Gundy. That wasn't his worse season. Do you remember that playoff series against the Lakers? He was awesome.....why do people have selective memory.

And for the record....when was averaging 21 6-6, he was one some very mediocre teams. He needed a lot of help. He was made the 1st option when there was dire need for a true superstar. It wasn't his fault that the front office had our fonds looked up in Mo Taylor, Kato and Shannon Anderson

I'm getting confused. Are you guys arguing on the same side? It seems both of you don't like Francis. Does one of you think he's more overrated than the other?

You don't think he can be a key role player? Is it because you think he's not good anymore or you think he's a head case?

He didn't label himself "franchise" let's clear that up.

Bill Worell labeled him "Stevie Franchise" It was then used and marketed.

ok, but he was never considered a superstar/franchise player around the L. he was never marketed that way by the L.

i guess worrell just wanted to use a nickname and that fit perfectly.

How was Stevie overrated when he was in Houston?

If it wasn't for the strong Western Conference, he would have led us to the playoffs in 2000-2001 (45-37) and 2002-2003 (43-39).

We struggled a whole bunch that 2001-2002 season since Stevie only played like 57 games. Since 2000, the Rockets front office has not provided any real talent to work with. The Rockets continually signed "promising" players to huge contracts therefore not giving us any cap to work with the following years.

Francis has not looked particularily good, if he wants more time, play better during the time you get. Unfortunately he is getting time with the scrubs, and granted, that is an issue. Everybody looks better with Yao and TMac. We really don't know much about practice.

When he was averaging his 21-6-7, he WAS winning games in ORLANDO and made ORLANDO MAGIC the top team in the EAST, ORLANDO started losing games after Mobley trade and Tony Battie,Grant Hill,Hedu Turkegelu,Deshawn Stevenson and Jameer Nelson all injured (even Francis injured his left hand and still trying his best to keep Magic's playoff ticket)...

Don't forget this period of his glory history! I understand there are prejudiced people, but i couldn't understand there are people prejudiced like u...

What a bunch of wusses (talking about the Mavericks). They played against Detroit tonight and Nowitzki and Howard played 27 minutes a piece.

let's hope adelman has a set rotation so he can play the starters some more. tmac has only played a total of 24 mins. he needs to get more of a rhythm even if he knows the plays. he's going against kobe bryant in the first game for god sakes.

francis is going to be professional about this i think. we're going to need him b/c i don't think alston can play this well all year. he's going to hit a brick wall as hard as last yr and is going to struggle shooting the ball and the defense is going to collapse into the paint to dare him to shoot.

    that's when we'll need francis.

    Francis has really small ears.

And rofflesaurus, you have made your opinion about SF3 pretty clear, is there really any point in stating your dislike for him over and over and over and over and over again? He's a Rocket, so how about being supportive.

I know, it's just that when Francis signed with us everyone was so happy and thought he'd be a star again, but i knew otherwise. it's fun being right so let me bask in my glory :D
