Wait til he gets really upset about something... the quotes get better. Just ask Minny and Toronto fans. Mike has been GREAT for this team AND he is hella entertaining.
doesn't RA already know that Yao doesn't have the footspeed to come out on the P&R? Most of the time when he comes out on the pick the guard will burn by him and a lot of times get a foul on Yao. I think you have to take the lesser of two evils and give up the jumpshot when yao is involved in the P&R defense. he can flash and then he has to immediately get back towards the paint but that usually turns out bad at times too.
no he wants yao to play soft. he doesn't want him to show on the P&R like under JVG. but he needs to be close enough where it's not a point blank shot. roy was getting WIDE WIDE WIDE open Js around 12 ft. and he made a lot of them and got into a rhythm. yao doesn't have to be close to roy, but at least be close enough to where his outreach arm can't kinda disrupt his shot.
Things I noticed from this interview: - Like some people mentioned, I believe Yao's role on the team will continue to evolve throughout the season. Adelman is still figuring out what is the "best" way to deploy Yao in his offense. The problem with this system is, Yao is the NOT the center of the offense like previously under JVG. The team has to make an effort to get Yao going and set him up for his shots, which in the process, may take away better scoring opportunities for others. Let's see how Yao reacts to all of this. - Man, Mike James, Mike James, Mike James! The guy spews out cliches in every other sentence. - Is it me, or did Scola's English regressed during that interview? OMG, I had such a tough time comprehending what he was trying to say. It's bad enough he was stuttering his words, but add the thick Argentine accent and it's almost incomprehensible. He started out okay in the preseason, but what happened to his ENGLISH???? - I don't forsee any PT for francis at all this season.
He mentions people that acutally played. He mentioned the whole rotation - so of course he's not going to talk about Steve Francis, Kirk Snyder, Steve Novak, Aaron Brooks, or Carl Landry. Battier always say the right things. Mike James is always entertaining.
Scola's response when asked about the Dallas/San Antonio games coming up: When the going gets tough, the tough get going. I love that about Scola.
Of course he wants to beat their asses. They basically left him out to dry this summer in the FIBA games. Shows you what type of character he is though. I like how our team is a collection of talented, but hard working and humble guys.
I thought about the same thing, too. I didn't wanna bring it up because some people might get overly protective of him saying that he's not from here and yadda yadda yadda. Actually sometimes I don't understand what Yao is trying to say either. He mumbles alot. Also like what ClutchCityReturns said, when Scola said "it's getting fun" that really pumped me up. Basically saying "Bring dat schitte on!!" battle cry. Except it'll probably take him about a season or two to learn that kinda language.
omg i love the way shane battier speaks and looks haha...damnit. its impressive im actually laughing cuz its so strange! and man, i wish i got rockets games down here in cali. i used to have this online program to watch nbatv free but i forgot what it was...hehe. go rockets =]. adleman is my hero >>mad at sac kings for letting him go. i live in sac hehe. big mistake.
In the event that you do remember and find that online program.. can you tell us? or Me, specifically?
From that interview you can tell that Scola is a winner. Its how he carries himself. Excellent bench combo with Wells & James & Luther.
