Why does everyone always think its the CNT thats constantly pressuring Yao to play for them. I've read and seen many of Yao's interviews and in all of them he seems genuinely proud to play for China and its this pride that motivates him to play extra hard in international competition. Do you think, as big of an icon as Yao is all over the world that the CNT can force him to do anything. Yao has more than enough money to live a happy life here in the states if he wanted to and not play for his country in any competition. Yet he is a true patriot with deep loyalty to his country. If China was really so oppressive forcing people to do things, like biased the western media portrays them to be, do you really think its athletes and its citizens would feel such pride and loyalty towards their country. Wake up people!

This may be over stated. I do believe Yao is loyal to CNT ( Personally I respect that) and if the Rockets tried to stop him from playing in the Olympics he would have said NO CAN DO, but Yao has already skipped some of his CNT obligations for the Rockets and he has shown a desire to be finished at times.
I never suggested that China oppressed him. Pressure disguises itself in many forms and shapes. You could be right and the CNT doesn’t pressure him however your argument that since Yao feels such pride and loyalty playing for his country must mean the CNT doesn't pressures him is flawed. Just because someone loves doing something, doesn’t mean that pressure from outside factors can’t exist.
You blame him for only having a flawed opinion. Yet everything you say is even more flawed and a factless opinion. Your argument is in direct contradiction of Yao's words. "If I cannot play in the Olympics for my country this time, that would be the biggest loss in my career." If you choose to ignore his words and argue against them at least acknowledge that your's is an opinion based solely on your imagination. Also as a Rocket fan I have no problem with Yao loving his country and in fact it is very refreshing to find a player in the NBA who values something more than his money.
I didn't say his opinion was flawed. I said he could be very well be right. I said the argument he used was. Learn to read.
I guess only those sports US are good at are prestige, like baseball, american football? wait a second, baseball is kicked out of Olympics. american football is not even in Olympics.
I can help CNT solve their guard play easily. Get a couple US pg (NBA rejects) make them Chinese citizens (pay them of course) and you have your instant made CNT! I mean the US and every other nation is importing Chinese table tennis players, why couldn't China import US basketball players? (or even Eurpean pgs).
I am just gonna go ahead and call you an idiot. What's "crappy" and what's "prestige?" I guess the almighty bloop will determine that.
Watch what you saying playah, I believe in respect. But if someone shows disrespect I also believe you should disrespect them back. Respect earns respect. Disrespect earns disrespect. Brooksball out, one love pz to the suffwest syde homie g dawg.
CNT need to lay out a framework to train their young kids about basketball. Spend their money on training and coaching the young should be their first priority. I don't know the current situation in China, but their basketball facility also need to be upgraded.
