Y'all need to stop comparing Yao to Shaq. Shaq used to drop 'bows and knock peeps teeth out back in the day.
There was maybe a 3:1 ratio of crazy elbow to the head administered while doing a spin move vs ticky-tack foul called on him. Shaq got away with a lot!

For Yao, the very sight of a defender working some flop bull**** on him and the ref will blow the whistle.

I honestly think that if Yao had come into the league 10-20 years ago he would be one of the top centers of all time. With his height and offensive skills, its no question.
Back then the only floppers not named Vlade Divac played for the Jazz. Back then, the NBA actually had some integrity as opposed to its current rigged-state.

wow I never expected Shaq to say that. But then again he often goes back and changes his word whenever he feels like it. He's as capricious a personality as I ever heard. He's great for the game though, will be unfortunate when he hangs them up.

I say if there going to flop.. might as well make them pay for it with some elbows. At lease make them think twice.

Right, this is because Yao has developed this "soft" rep. So when he does knock people back the refs automatically equate it with an offensive foul. It's a lose-lose situation with Yao. Because he has played this way for 7 years, the refs have 7 years of precedent to judge whether or not he's committing an offensive foul. Shaq, on the other hand, has been bulldozing people and elbowing people in the face since he entered the league. The refs have to swallow their whistles sometimes because that's the way Shaq plays. So, Yao just has to start bulldozing people and using his full strength and not care about the offensive fouls. He has to force the refs to foul him out. If he does this over the course of a season, then will he get officiated differently.

They won't. They will never tear down the Superman character they created. Dwight is Superman, which entails being the strongest and the best, in the league after all...

Odd that I would watch every Rockets' game. Look, Yao's best interest may be to not play in the NBA. Is that in the Rockets' best interest? No. So what's so hard to understand about that?

Nash?Lebron? Are you kidding?Lbj cant even rank our favourite Top 10 players in China.I'd say Yao is the top1 ,Kobe follows.
I'm a fan from China, and I know more about the situation in China than you. Most of the Yao fans would not buy merchandise.
And a lot of them would not even vote for Yao in the all-star.My dad also loves Yao,but he never care about the votes.Believe it or not,if Yao leaves Rox,almost everyon in China will never watch Rockets.

Try working a job as a construction architect only you cant use all the tools at other architect's disposal. You only get a bare bones version of the drafting software.

Try working as a waiter at a top flight restaurant but you can only use one hand.

Try selling cars but you only get to go every other turn. Half your potential clients go to "faster" salesmen, even though your numbers with what you deal with are through the roof, and you finish the sales just as fast as the "faster" guys.

Man, Yao struggles pretty badly against strong, defensive centers like Perkins and Pryz, I shudder when I think of him facing Eaton, Robinson, Ewing and god forbid, Prime Shaq and Hakeem. He would get literally wrecked. 35 year old Shaq can slow him down pretty damn well, I don't think we even want to think about 22 year old Shaq.

Perkins? He scored 26 points against him last time in Boston. Just because that one game he got owned in, doesn't mean he gets owned by him.

Pryzbilla does stop him pretty well, but he also stops Duncan, Jefferson and Howard.
