will you agree that what he says vs. how he appears/acts is ambiguous AT BEST and leaves room for the interpretation we see every day on this site?

The guy shouldn't do this kind of interview. He should bark out some crap scripted by his agent, instead of spouting this disjointed, semi-coherent gibberish. Honestly, I don't think he even realizes how lame he sounds.

McGrady, do yourself a favor... shut up.

I think Tmac should come off the bench for the first couple of games. He probably will feel less pressure.

BTW, I am wondering how good it can be when Tmac and Brooks play together. Coach A please let it happen.

How he appears/acts when giving the interview? He is a person who is laid back. You will never take that out of the man...win, lose or draw, he is not going to give the cliche speeches Yao gives to the media, he is not going to scream or let out frustration after every play, nor is he going to act all pissed off and whatnot when things go bad. He goes about his business the same every single day. I personally put a lot more stock into what the man says (which is usually spot on) and what he does on the court (which has made him one of the most dangerous players in the league). Do i wish he had the heart or fire of Kobe or KG? Yes, but at the same time he is a top player in this league and has shown great leadership both during the season (leading the team to 2 50+ win seasons) and in the playoffs (4th highest playoff PPG average in NBA history, played very well against Mavs and Jazz in playoffs).

I've said it before -- people hate T-Mac for not being a good politician. It's as simple as that.

Oh come on, he has had plenty of other reasons to hate on him.....

He admitted he quit on Orlando - which makes everyone wonder if he has come to the same situation here in Houston.

There is no structural damage to his knee or any other part of his body, except for maybe his brain.

He has had a sore knee. Not unlike a jammed finger, only at the knee joint. Half the players in the league perform with such ailments on a nightly basis.

McGrady can't finish practice, doubts Saturday return

Unable to finish his first full practice since his knee injuries, Tracy McGrady left Toyota Center on Thursday doubting that he would be ready for his first game back by Saturday.

McGrady had targeted Saturday’s game against the Spurs for his return after missing the past 11 games. That changed Thursday.

“It’s unlikely, not even a game-time decision,” McGrady said. “As of now, I’m not playing.

“In practice today, I really didn’t look too good. I’m definitely upgraded from where I was, but I’m not ready to play right now. My whole game is based on explosion and cutting. I won’t do my team any justice being out there and not being able to do the things I am able to do.”

McGrady has been able to complete just one game since Dec. 15 because of a bon bruise, patellar tendinitis and a strained popliteus tendon in his left knee.

“I did what I could do,” McGrady said. “Certain things I could not participate in because my leg was just so sore. I just didn’t feel comfortable. Concerns about cutting. Mentally, I’m not there. I’m not ready to play. Fatigue. Conditioning is an issue. Pain is an issue.”

McGrady said he does plan to practice today, with progress after a workout Tuesday, a light practice Wednesday and consecutive team practices expected to determine his playing status.

“He started out OK, but as the practice went on, I thought he labored with it,” Rockets coach Rick Adelman said. “We can’t have that. He’s going to having conditioning problems, but if he’s limping or whatever, we have to make sure he’s healthy when he comes back. Tomorrow will tell us a lot after he worked out yesterday and practiced today.

“To me, is he moving well? If he’s moving well, that’s fine. If he’s not moving well, he’s not going to do us any good. He can’t push off and he can’t do anything.”

I thought the interview was fine. I'd rather have TMac back healthy then him coming back too early and getting injured again.

People hate Tmac because they love him! They miss him and want to see hime to play!

Why don't people question SF3's injury?!

I believe that was Bob Sura.

Something else is going on here. Yeah, his leg probably still hurts, but all this TMac will be traded, break up TMac and Yao, TMac is an underachiever stuff that has been all over the media may be getting to him.

Or, maybe he knows that the Rockets have, in fact, been entertaining some trades, and he is preventing them from doing anything. Ergo, "I am still injured until this proposed deal is dead."

Why don't the Houston reporters ever do some real reporting and find out from the DOCTORS what their prognosis is.....like maybe ask the question that everyone wants to know.

"Doc, would McGrady be at risk of damaging it further by playing now?"

    or

"Doc, what is the normal healing time for injuries like this?"

They sure asked those questions last year when Yao was out with a broken knee cap.

you obviously have done no research what so ever on his injury. This is not a sore knee, this is a STRAINED TENDON ON THE REAR SIDE. It affects his leaping ability. Its directly linked in actual fact. How do you propose he plays through that? You honestly do want him to stuff it up further dont you?

I remember it being very hard to get detailed information about Yao's injury last year.

have u seriously played in any type of sports? how can you sit on the bench for 2 hours and suit up to play the last 15-20 mins of a game (saying that's how long an NBA game is). it's unreasonable. that would make him more susceptible to injury as he hasn't stretched his muscles/joints...

But they did call doctors to get the normal healing time estimations......same could or rather SHOULD be done here.
