Terrible. We'd be a lot better if we kept Landry/Scola.

Once again, how is this about the money? Even if he doesn't come back until much much later in the season, he can still get the full payout on his contract.

Okafor would thrive next to Yao.

its stunning how delusional some people on this board are. mcgrady wants to play so badly that he's on the verge of anger and somehow that's selfish?

put yourself in his shoes and there's no way that you wouldn't feel the same way.

from a rockets point of view, I see no positives at all in not activating him to see if he can go or not. what's the worst that could happen? his trade value as a player at this point is negligible since his contract expires after this year anyway.

can someone give me a real reason why the rockets shouldn't play him off the bench?

You know what I haven't heard since prior to training camp?

He hasn't used the expression, "My team".

He kept saying it ALL last year and this past summer. And everytime he said it I said, "Are your kidding me, Mac? Haven't you learned anything?"

I guess he has learned a thing or two.

Dont you think Tmac might also know if his fitness and game is at a NBA level. He is a multiple time All Star and former scoring champ. He probably has an idea if he is physically ready to play or not as well especially since Im sure the last thing he wants is to be on the court and embarrass himself like he did on the missed dunk.

Im not taking his side, just wondering why you think only Adelman and co know if Tmac is ready.

At the end of day, what did Tmac say that has everyone so mad. He said he thinks he is ready to play but the coach and GM disagree and until they say so he isnt going to play.

Hopefully there will be some info on how Tmac looked in practice whether its from the media or other players. I just think if Adelman and Morey are really fed up with Tmac, just come out and say so. Say, they like the direction the team is headed and dont want to disrupt that trying to reintroduce Tmac since he doesnt fit into their long term plans. Its not like that hurts the trade value any more then saying he is still too injured to play and there is no end in sight to his time on the bench.

yao wouldnt contradict his coach. yao isnt a primadonna. yao would sit his ass down and keep his trap shut if RA and the organization told him to.
because yao has class and is a professional.

ew, seriously? Stojakovic? he can't play anymore, starting him is a terrible terrible idea too, having him on the roster was already bad

    What do you expect?

From observation there are 2 types of people in this message board regarding T-mac situation.

Group 1 - Trade his ass out of Houston, he is just a drama queen, Me-mac, he doesn't play within the system therefore "it's not the type of basketball I like to watch" (which I'm sure most superstars would not be welcomed in Houston by that last reference, lol)

Group 2 - Lets give him a chance, he is going to be alright, if healthy he will help the Rockets, etc

There is no point in arguing anymore. I did in one thread and it was probably a waste of my time. DD does it as if it were a job and it is more than likely a waste of his time. We aren't convincing anybody and most of us have chosen a side. There are those others that are too hesitant to speak against/for T-mac and will never choose a side and just wait and see what happens.

Pick somebody else other than Yao. Terribly unfair of you to compare Yao's Chinese mindset to Tracy's American mindset. Completely apples to oranges.

Just listened to the extended interview and the interview with Elston Turner on Rockets.com.

As far as T-Mac, they did ask him about where he felt his game was at this point and he admitted that it takes a while to get back into an NBA rhythm and perform consistently when you've been out for such a long time. He says he really won't know just how well he can perform until he can experience real NBA action (at least that's kind of the drift I got ... the audio quality is pretty bad and sometimes you can't hear clearly over the racket of practice action in the background).

As for Elston Turner, he pretty much repeated what we know and doesn't seem to think it's a big deal that McGrady feels like he's ready to play, saying "he's a competitor" etc. He kind of iterated the same thing McGrady said above, saying that it takes time to get into an NBA rhythm and that this is sort of McGrady's training camp, and that the other guys have been doing this since September. He says they don't want to put him in uniform until they are confident that they are putting the real T-Mac in uniform, and that they don't want to disrupt the chemistry of what the guys are currently doing by dropping in someone who may not be able to perform consistently. Refused to give any kind of timetable, so it's pretty much everyone needs to wait and see. As far as how he looked during practice, he said that he looks good in spurts and in some other spurts he's off, as expected. You can't just jump from the training room onto an NBA basketball court, it takes time to get into the flow of things. Seems like they've made up their minds that that process will happen in practice, not in real live games with the potential of messing up the good thing they've got going.

Just activate him, play him sparingly for a few games, and see how the team responds to him and how he responds to them..if he sucks, bench him..if not, then thats GREAT for out team. So tired of this subject...GO TEXANS!!

If you watched Elston Turner in his interview it did not sound natural. As fans we should be pissed for them not putting the best product out there!!!

Doctor's cleared Dwyane Wade to play the season after he tore his shoulder. He obviously needed more time. The only person who can tell you if you're in pain or not is you.

I should also add that they asked him about the Minnesota game where he put his uniform on. He chuckled and said that was kind of "comical". The media definitely made a circus out of nothing there.
