Kobe is trying to play it off. He cares about this streak and wants to badly break it. He's just more media savvy than Tmac, who if he were in Kobe's position would probably say something about wanting to break it.

And how much you wanna bet after we beat them tomorrow, with the inevitable loud cheers and the streamers coming down, he'll say something like, "Wow, I guess when you haven't won a championship in a while, you find all kinds of reasons to celebrate like you just won it." I've got his schtick down pat. There's a reason why Van Gundy, Adelman, Popovich, and Dunleavy get annoyed with him and not each other. He's a smarmy, self-righteous individual- the Eddie Haskell of coaching who just has to get in his little jabs just to be a prick. Whoever said he went downhill once he joined the Lakers is right- he was at least tolerable in CHI, now he's just an insufferable bore.

Kobe, on the other hand, at least gave us props- and related it to his scoring 81 against the Raptors. What was Phil's reaction? "They did the same thing last year without Yao." Yeah, Phil, I think it's a little different. What a total a**. I hope they beat the crap out of them just for that dirtbag alone.

I did mention it for the fact that we shot 29 3s in that game proves my point. it's an integral part of our game. even when the shot isn't falling we believe in it and keep going to it.

houston is much a 3 point shooting team as the lakers. kobe's in for a surprise tomorrow if he is expecting the same old rockets

I remember one season during the playoffs back when Adelman still had the moustache, Jackson actually made a remark to the media that he resembles Hitler a little bit

Yes, he did. He also called the Knicks thugs, said that San Antonio should have an asterisk after the 1999 championship (shortened regular season, but weren't the playoffs the same length? Yes, they were), called Sacramento "cowtown," etc, etc. He just says the most unnecessary things out of disrespect because he's got 9 rings. Yet, what has he done when he hasn't had two of the best all-time players on his roster (OK, Pippen is a reach and I can't stand him, but he was a damn good player with Jordan)? First round and out. Second round and out. etc. Can't wait until the day he retires- he is the single most arrogant fool in the NBA right now and the league would be much better off without him.

Um, I'm pretty sure when Kobe said Houston doesn't have shooters, he meant not of the same caliber as the Kings of earlier this decade. The reporter was asking Kobe if the Rockets were like Adleman's old Kings team.

And so, in comparison to those teams, ummm, yeah, the Rockets shooters are not on the same level...yet.

    Lakers are Lakers...

I guess I have my arrogant prick filter on, but there's some decent insights from Jackson who has been there. Plus there's clues that the both of them have been paying attention to this team.

Agreed. And even if Phil was being condescending and acting like he's above the small market (which I don't think he was doing), the Houston media really does act like teenage girls at times (some other bbs poster wrote that line in this or some other thread).

Seriously, remember when we hosted the Superbowl and Puff Daddy was here. Oh my goodness...they were on his nuts like a starving squirrel. Local reporters in Htown are fine when things are normal, but when something happens that brings celebrities and quasi celebrities to town (even sports figures), they get embarrassingly stupid.

In fairness to the Houston media, it was a guy from LA asking most of the questions early on to Phil.

Kobe cares about the streaks simply because he is jealous about it that his lakers can win so many games in a row!

Adelman fought with him? I don't remember that. RA seems like such a mellow guy.

Hopefully Kobe has a MASSIVE DIARRHEA problem tomorrow and his game isn't up to par.
