Why not? I did nothing wrong. I decided to post it in a relevant thread that was getting more attention. I also added to it. Other people have done the same thing and there is nothing wrong with doing that if it applies to both threads.

Follow your own rules. They don't apply to me.

I mean people act like they are surprised when he said he didn't come here to not play at all. Is that comment really that bad? What would you like him to say? "Yeah, it's cool, I really didn't want to play, I just came back to chill with my buddy Yao."

I'd like him to get in shape and play but I don't think we should be surprised because he looked kind of pudgy at TMac softball game. That's what 30+ million at 1 time will do to you...

I really don't mean to be a hater. If the scorers are benched, his O would help. Who cares if he freezes people like Hayes and Deke out. However, if he doesn't get it, he won't get minutes except in "have to" (injury) or garbage time. I'm sure he won't be happy with waiting and I think the "do something" = demand a trade.

Personally, I don't think Steve will see the All-Star break with us.

I really hope he gets in shape and gets it together so we don't have a Bonzi situation, I like what he might be able to do for this team more than the 1 dimensional Luther.

Francis: New role 'going to be tough'
Guard unsure how he'll handle lack of playing time

    By JONATHAN FEIGEN
    Copyright 2007 Houston Chronicle

Steve Francis did not expect much, but sounded shocked that he might begin the season receiving little or no playing time.

With the Rockets' rotation taking shape and apparently excluding him, Francis said he did not know what he would do, but that he might have to do "something."

"That is going to be tough, that will be real tough for me," Francis said. "If that's the case, then I don't know. I definitely didn't come here not to play at all. Hopefully we can work something out."

Asked what sorts of options he might have, Francis said: "I don't know. I can't say."

Asked if he would be willing to wait and see if he could receive more playing time as the season progressed, Francis, 6-3, said he did not know how he would react to that situation, or even if he would want to wait.

"I don't know. I can't tell you," Francis said. "That's something I would have to wait to see. Until that time comes, I can't make a decision on something like that now. We haven't discussed anything as far as my role. Until that happens, I'll still be waiting to see what happens."

    No go in San Antonio
Francis did not play Friday in San Antonio when Rockets coach Rick Adelman used a rotation more suited for the regular season than the experimentations of the preseason. He said he has not told players yet how they will be used when the season opens Tuesday night in Los Angeles against the Lakers.

"I tried to play the people who we feel are playing the best," Adelman said. "I have to sit down and talk to the individuals who are going to play and those that are not going to play and talk it through. I haven't done that, yet."

Since players reported for the start of training camp Oct. 1, Adelman has said he would prefer to give fewer players more playing time than to spread the minutes among more players. But the backcourt went from crowded to overcrowded when point guard Rafer Alston exceeded expectations with his preseason play.

"You're always concerned," Adelman said. "Whoever is not going to be in the rotation is not going to be happy about it.

"Whatever decision is made right now is not going to be written in stone. A lot of things can happen. But you've got to make some decisions right now and move on and hopefully people are going to be professional enough who don't get time."

Francis had seemed behind other perimeter players throughout the preseason, with Alston, Tracy McGrady and Shane Battier starting and Bonzi Wells, Luther Head and Mike James coming off the bench. But Francis has said he would be ready for the start of the season.

"He doesn't have any signs of distracting the team or anything like that," McGrady said. "He's doing what he has to do."

    Out of the rotation
Francis, 30, said that when he chose to return to the Rockets, where he began his career and made three consecutive All-Star teams, he knew he would be unlikely to play as much as he had early in his career.

"But not to be in the rotation, to me I don't think that's what I'm looking for," he said. "If that's the case, I'd have to do something."

Francis said he did not know what that something would be and had no plans to ask Adelman about where he fits in.

"I turned a lot of money down other places," he said. "But hopefully it will work out."

Anyone one notice what he didn't say in that interview? What he should have said was that he needed to work harder, get back in shape, study tape, be professional, stfu, just work at it and hell get into the rotation. Instead he says he has no Idea what he is going to do. Get a ****ing clue Stevie, your 30 and been in the league for 8 years and you dont know what your going to do when your out of the rotation. Thats maturity and professionalisms right there.

No, someone asked what we expected steve to say. And I used the article to reinforce my point. Its also more convenient to read the article in 30 seconds, then to re-stream the interview. So most of us didn't expect Stevie to be a consummate professional and take not playing lightly, which he shouldn't, but for an 8 year vet to say that he doesn't know what he is going to do is absolutely ridiculously. Reacting with an "I dont know" doesn't instill give me great confidence with steve. Steve only has 2 options right now, which is to work hard on and off the court(watching tapes of adelmans offense to learn how to play off the ball) or he can pout and demand a trade or what not. Its quite simple for steve, yet he still doesnt get it.

maybe steve francis isn't the brightest thing out there, but.... at least he's thinking about it, and not jumping to conclusion and saying, I WANT A DAMN TRADE. that shows he has matured a bit.

Francis assumed he'd be starting for this team, that's why he's confused and doesn't know what to do.

When Francis was a Knick Isaih benched him for Mardy Collins. After the game Isaih said he thought Collins did a better job at running the point, and Francis said he didn't know what he was doing wrong.

I don't even think Francis realizes he over dribbles or can't make decisions quickly, and that's bad when you can't recognize your faults.

During his first tenure here, I was one of Francis' strongest critics. Frankly, I thought he was something of a ball hog and a show off. The double clutch reverse half twist crip shot for a turnover comes to mind. Nevertheless, I did kind of expect him to at least be part of the rotation and even thought there was a chance he would start. He certainly doesn't look out of shape as the coach suggested. I thought he worked himself silly with a trainer this summer just to be ready(?)! If Rafer was starting in front of me, I would be upset too. Wow, what an insult. Why did the Rockets bring him back? I am really surprised at the way things have unfolded. Francis definitely has game. He still seems to have hops though some of his "out of this world" athleticism has faded. Though he has his flaws, he still is a major talent. Rafer isn't.

yea i have really know idea where the "out of shape" comments are coming from. did you all not see his dunk on the Hornets? it's not like he's huffing and puffing out there either.

Despite all the enquirer drama Isiah thomas is still one of the 50 greatest basketball players to ever play the game and one of the top 5 point guards as well.

Rafer has been doing his best, I do concur. But who is not doing his best in this team?
RA has no room to improve on his scoring, penetration and especially defending those PGs in an elite team. Plain and simple.
I hate to talk about RA here, but it is related since we are talking about SF3.
