No kidding right, Les has never cared about winning....

EDC learn a new tune. Game 7 is over and done with. Our role players didn't show up, simple as that, JVG could have had a brilliant game plan but it's worth less if no one hit a basket outside of your 2 stars. That's true for any coach, you can't win if your players don't hit shots.

Game 7 was the poster child for the word anomaly after a very tight series. It's over, it happened and it wasn't a reflection on the team we saw play all year.

Of course, he was only head coach of those Knicks for one season or so. He couldn't possibly build exactly the team he wanted, because he didn't have enough time there.

Umm, 1-4 is no better than last season. Van Gundy had a decent game plan, which won game one, and the Rockets "stole" game two. Not that either of those wins should be discounted, but game seven was an embarassment, and "forgetting about it" only ensures it will happen again.

Funny how you conveniently forgot about the game 6 win. Since it doesn't support your argument I can see why you would want to leave it out.

What would you have us do then? Wallow in it and keep saying, Woe is me? There's no point to it.

And Phil was so severely out-coached the last time he was in the Finals... and that was with a roster loaded with HOFs. He was only a Kobe-miracle shot away from being swept badly. I don't want him here.

How will the fans forgetting about it ensure it will happen again. Say what you want about JVG and the rest of the Rockets, but I guarantee you they won't forget about it.

I want the Mavs again in the playoffs. It's killing me that we're not in the 2nd round. T-Mac and Yao will have their revenge.

I don't think you got my point. He NEVER had the pieces (equivalent to T-Mac and Yao) to build around there. Do you think Sprewell and Houston of 5-7 years ago had as much potential as T-Mac Yao do at this point?

exact point i was gonna make.

edc, if game 7 this year is a true reflection of JVG's abilities (or lack thereof), what do you have to say about PJ getting manhandled by a far less talented team in '04? it's the exact same logic.

    lame-ass excuse in 5,4,3.........

This is a great news for JVG, but a bad news for T-Mac and Yao, which implys that Les doesn't really want a Champ in any visible year!

    oh great....ANOTHER B-C-T butt kisser

    wanna explain yourself?

I keep trying to get one of you guys to explain to me EXACTLY how Mr Coattailrider Jackson is a noticably better coach than VG.

not a one of you have stepped up...I guess you cant do it.

explain to me how a coach that has only stepped in when a team had the best players in the league and won makes him so great..

he doesnt make the difference...he doesnt build the team..he doesnt teach the team...he comes in and goes alogn for the ride while the best players in the league win games....if he was truely a great coach....he would have won last year...wouldnt he?

Read Phil Jacksons' book The Final Season. I read the entire thing yesterday. Besides some interesting insights into players and the league, PJ readily admits that coaching can only go so far. He talked about the difference between his Bulls and Lakers teams, and I get the feeling that he never felt comfortable with the Lakers teams. He mentions about meeting a bunch of ex-Bulls during the 2004 finals, and he reminisces about how that was, by far, the most dedicated group of players he's ever been around in terms of winning.

Coaching is somewhat important, but it's also highly overrated, in many instances. I feel that there are a number of coaches that could take this team to the next level: Rudy T, Phil Jackson, George Karl, Jerry Sloan, Larry Brown, Greg Popovich, Jeff Van Gundy, Rick Carlisle, etc. Hell, even Mike D'Antoni could get this group to the next level, given the right mix of players (sort of like the situation he's in right now?).

If you honestly think that Greg Popovich is a better coach than Jerry Sloan because of the rings, then you're really beyond hope.

I hope Phil goes to New York.

Then we'll see what kind of coach he is.

It will never happen. I think it's more likely that he'll go back to the Fake show and after a year or two of failure he'll retire and stay that way for good.

Simple. Don't give the architect an extension.

Who left anything out? Beyond the first two games, the Rockets were ONE AND FOUR in that series. Game 6 = 1 (additional) win.
