Deke will be back. he's still one of the best backup Pivots in the game. morey's knows he's real value both on and off the court. to have someone like deke here to teach dorsey how to use he's raw ability can only hold us in great stead for the future.

Based on the reading of what he said, it sounds like to me that he will be willing to take the vets min. I think he sees that this may be the best chance that he has had in his career to win a championship now, and he just wants to be on board. I believe he also thought that last year, but him spending time with Artest and his family over the summer tells me that he is really just wanting on board now with the trade.

I hope that we sign Deke and also try to get another legit back up center. I think Dorsey has a few things he can contribute right now, but I would much rather see him work on his game and try to develop some basic NBA offensive skills, if that is even remotely possible. I would much rather see Dorsey groomed as a PF behind Scola and Landry. I can't even see him being a starting center in the NBA. But if he developed an offensive game below 10 ft, he could very well possibly develop into a starting PF in a few years. If by that time, there is no room on our team for him to start, he would be a great trading asset by then.

Pay him the minimum, then donate twice that to his hospital. It makes him happy and it doesn't count against the cap.

deke will go nowhere other than houston, believe me,deke still want a championship that he can't get in anyother team.his damn agent intends to get a little more cash in expense of deke's championship.how selfish the damn agent is.by the way, landry's senario is quite different because he is still very young so that he still has many chances to win the title in the following decade ,maybe it's a better option for landry to go to a team where he can get more gametime than he can get in houston.at least ,earning more money is more practic and important for a younster.

The ring is waiting for Deke, :) . Rox is promising in the coming season, with Ron Artest.

Mutombo was very productive in limited minutes. If we extrapolate his minutes out to 35 a game he is still one of the best if not they best shotblocker in the game.

    Give him the full MLE.

j/k. I guess he is a good insurance policy for the vet. minimum but this team needs to seriously looking into getting a 7 footer who does not have 25lb of concrete in each shoe and who can catch a Tmac pass. His relationship with Artest is probably worth more than his on the court contributions at this point in his career.

I used to agree with that but the price of a half way decent 7 footer is just too much (see, Diop). If Yao gets injured i'd rather role with what we have than spend so much money on a guy like that. If Yao stays healthy you're just wasting money on a guy that won't play that much.

Im not trying to be negative, but isnt deke just a bit old to play in the nba. I mean comon. Last year was the same situation about him coming out of retirement to play with the Like of Mike James and Steve Francis for a championship. LoL

this is what is really annoying me about the Landry situation...it freezes up our MLE and makes it hard to sign Deke and Dorsey. I actually still believe he wants more than the vet min and we cant offer anything more than that without going into the MLE.

If the rockets do win it all this year, a big IF and deke isnt on the team I would feel horrible for him

If he'll take the minimum, bring him back for one more.
