woohoo! Best news all year! Go ahead and get the surgery now! Anything to keep him out of the locker room.

It doesn't matter what the results are, he still lacks heart and dedication.

And i by not means wish the pain on him ... its just great news for our team chemistry.

I knew this was coming down and it is a sad day for the rockets, but this team should still be able to make the playoffs and maybe get out of the 1st rd.

Think about it, Yao is playing as well as tracy did last year. Artest is better than the 2nd guy from last year. Scola,Brooks, and Landry are better than they were last year. Wafer is better than head. All that equals to this team playing well enough to make the playoffs and if they can miss Utah or La, they'll be ok. Now it is Morey's job to find another wing and that shouldn't be that hard. Ricky Davis is a 2m player, Gerald Green is a minimum type of player. Carney makes rookie money. This team will be ok because they have artest this yr vs nothing.

This is certainly an interesting development -- i'm not really sure how this could be missed so many times unless it is a tiny little spot.

Let him take the rest of the year off which is what he wanted to do all along.

as posted in the other thread:

I'm surprised at the prevailing belief from the group.. that "the season is over"..

have they already forgotten that this season.. the lineup that has proven most successful this season.. as far team consistency goes.. did not infact include Tracy..?

sure.. there's reason to think going beyond the first round this year might not be all that likely.. but to make a greater chance at victory a forgone conclusion with Tracy.. the way he has been playing this season.. is simply blindly assuming with no tangible reason.. going by past reputation instead of the present evident truth..

people would continuously point to his "progress".. to justify their delusion that " once the playoffs roll around".. miraculously.. all that ails him would vanish into thin air.. and his all his old physical prowess would resurface as if by magic.. overlooking the obvious.. one, he was moving better.. but his explosiveness had shown zero change for the better.. those dunks hadn't impressed me one bit.. the one over Tyrus was an example of external conditions coming together to make any sloppy dunk attempt result as a 'ok' facial.. Tracy's ability didn't make that happen.. and his first one back.. was the most modest left handedTracy McGrady dunk I had ever witnessed.. that made most people were eager to proclaim, "he's back!"

yes.. he was getting in some good solid games lately.. that cannot be denied.. but what can.. is how he no longer seemed able to leave his indellible mark in games like he once did.. routinely..
the times he did resulted negatively .. when he attempted to.. but simply couldn't..

i think this team.. knowing Tracy won't be coming back again this season.. will surprise us..

if this is true i think morey may need to observe some trades to bolster our lineup...kind of like when bynum went down last year.

Well if he has been playing with this injury for the whole season or the majority of the season I fail to see how this is a lack of heart or dedication. If it was there in the off-season I also fail to see how this was a lack of heart or dedication situation.

Should we be surprised about this news? I mean come on, its the Rockets....

Poor T-Mac tho, I've been hard on him this season but I hate to see his career jeopardized like this, I was hoping he would return to the normal T-Mac next season

this is EXACTLY what i was thinking when i heard his season might be over. the Knicks are desperate - i repeat, DESPERATE - to trade Marbury away, and the fact that they'd be getting a former superstar back, a superstar whose contract expires by summer 2010, would be a perfect 'get' for them.

of course, it's perfect for us, b/c that means we have $21 M to play with this summer, meaning we're under the cap. if we do another trade (for Hinrich, etc.), so be it. but this seems like a no-brainer. if we don't play Marbury, it's the same as if we don't play Tracy.

When was this? Before or after shootaround where Tracy was laughing and joking with the reporters wearing his Orlando Magics gear?

I hope you start stretching for your long walk.

This is bad but not terrible. T-Mac hasn't looked good most of the season and has been a big distraction now that we know he can't play this might give Adelman more time to solidify his rotation and also let the other players define their roles better.
