No, but let me break that same hand with a hammer two more times, and afterwards I'll cut open your wrist and finger on that same hand and suddenly it's not just by chance that all of this is happening to that one hand. That's a hand problem no matter how you slice it.
ppl, just lower the expectations for nxt yr, and we might be surprised. i'm just tired of disappointment, no matter what the reason is.
Besides the fact that JVG is no doctor, let's assume he knows something we don't, then if JVG says Tmac has 3 good years, it'll be prob less than that.
Far too early to be debating about Tracy McGrady and how long he will be able to contibute as a Star! We don't know ,YET , if he will be able to play next season . We must be prepared for a repeat of this season. If he is healthy and plays at least 75 games then we count our lucky stars!
The "good" part should be corrected and changed to "great". Four more "great" years from Mac followed by 4-5 more "good" years is fine with me. Oh btw, Prophet JVG should shut up already.
It's too early for us to try to judge T-Mac. JVG sees him or talks to him daily i'm guessing, he knows something we don't. We as fans haven't seen T-Mac play, haven't seen any x-rays of his back, haven't seen anything to lead us to believe he's got 3 or 5 or 6 good years left in the NBA. But what is "good" for T-Mac? T-Mac is a superstar and a perennial all-star, so he has sky-high standards. Hell, being injured like a mofo this season he still put up 24.4 ppg and that includes all the games he left early because of his injury, etc. Obviously it wasn't his most productive season, but it was still pretty good. If he has 3 regular "Good 'Ole T-Mac" seasons, and then starts to play second to Yao but still plays T-Mac-esque basketball, I wouldn't mind that a single bit. Yao's maturing, and soon, he won't need a "OrlandoMac" status T-Mac. T-Mac is a baller though. Everytime I see him or hear something about him, I get excited. This is going to be one long offseason...
Vince Carter was injury plagued and was said to never become the player he once was. Vinces career was supposably over. Maybe Tmac will make a return to form. I can dream.
Please show me how you come to this conclusion. Prior to this season, Kobe missed about as many games as Shaq did over the past 3 years. Since his stint with the Magic, Tmac never missed more than 5 games at a time due to either a death in the family, injury, or fighting, and missed 15 in the season because weisbrod sat him out of the last games of the season because he didnt want him around the team. Kobe has been in the NBA for 10 years, and has much more mileage on his body than Tmac has. Its just that he had Shaq taking all of the punishment he wasnt getting. Get that Kobe crap out of here.
It might be a psychological thing JVG is pulling on T-Mac... 3 years seems a little low, but JVG probably wants T-Mac to hear what he said and make him get better (health-wise and as a player)... T-Mac has the talent to be a top 5 player, but will be forgotten unless he wins an MVP and/or makes some loud noise in the playoffs
We shouldn't be wasting the prime years of T-Mac and Yao's careers with JVG as our coach. He is not condusive to either winning, or getting the best out of them.
Depends on what one calls productive If for the next three years he turns in to Peja or Glen Rice I will definately be disappoint If he means he will still drive to the basket or rather start going to the basket more then I am ok As long as TMac becomes a jumpshooter and don't drive then I won't say that is overly productive Rocket River
Sounds to me like JVG wants to motivate McGrady. If I thought I had 3 good years left I certainly would play harder.
Sounds to me that Gundy is calling out Les Alexander: Les you've got three years to build a team around our two stars, so we better do it this summer, and give ourselves a chance to build the chemistry to beat the big boys in the next 3 years.
He's trying to up TMac's trade value. In shopping him to other teams, the other teams are saying "Tracy's done." JVG replies, "no, Tracy has three good years left."
Bingo! What JVG is saying is the key word right now is "urgency!" This team needs to take advantage of the Yao/Tmac combo. Starting next year, that will be the FIRST time where Tmac teams with the new "super Yao", where Yao is not just a support player, but a stud superstar player. And JVG wants to stress to management and to everyone that to take advantage of those 2 guys in their PRIME, we have to do it right now. 3 years from now Tmac will still be on this team, but he might not be able to "dominate" games the way he can do it now. Yao might still be doiminating but Tmac might not. So JVG wants to strike right now where BOTH guys are at their peak level. The onus is on management to surround Yao/Tmac with the appropriate role players to maximze their games. Urgency!
