WTF??? From his first day here, Steve has said he would sign long term with the Rockets. Well before this season I recall him saying that if the Rockets offered him a lifetime contract he'd take it in a heartbeat. Of course, this was at a time when it wasn't possible, so take it for what you will. Stevie often talks about the team in "long term" tense, referring to the need to get good young players so we can be contenders down the line. Achebe, for someone who doesn't know him, you tend to make a lot of assumptions about steve Francis' character. Yes, the Vancouver debacle was bad, but to think a player doesn't care about being a part of the future welfare of his team until he finds himself afflicted with injuries and sees profit...well, thats really a question of his desire and integrity, something none of us here really know jack **** about. I know you never actually literally stated the above, but I hope to derail your obvious thought progression for a little bit. Lets wait and see what happens. Who knows, you may like what you see.
astro, i have only a second... but were the search filter around maybe we could find the fear that haunted the board at the beginning of this past season when francis seemed to dance around the issue of resigning. it certainly wasn't as clear cut, imo, as you see it. -ciao
I hate to ruin another myth here but Sports Sunday ran the Francis interview again last night in a longer form...along with Moochie and Les Alexander. Francis did smile when he mentioned seeing how good Yao looked in the video tape. Yes...Francis showed POSITIVE emotion. So much for the so-called body language experts out there. os
Well he may have smiled, and showed some positive emotion, but if you could have seen behind the cameras you would have noticed that people were waving ice cream temptingly in front of him, so Steve's smile was actually not in reference to Ming, but in reference to the ice cream. Then I heard Steve say if the Rockets didn't order Rocky Road by the gallon that he was out here...
