10pm sports had a different interview with Francis. Francis: "I'm not backing away from having Cato with us...Ming is a good addition but I'm pretty sure Cato will battle for the spot." I hope Cato does battle...competition is a good thing. os
pretty unbelievable, but that Barros chap may not have been lying when he said Francis didn't want Ming taking Cato's spot. I just watched the interview with Steve and he looked a little bitter. No smile. No hint of positive emotion. Nothing. All he could say was: "Im not backing out on the picks....but Im sure Cato's not going to let Ming just come in and take his spot" no wonder he has migraines. hes Cato's biggest supporter.
I don't think the problem was Steve's initial reaction, it was people believing all the rumors about him, and willing to jump on the hate wagon, before ever hearing anything from Steve himself.
Booster, Maybe he is trying to motivate Cato. People are always hesitant to change, and Francis is no different. He knows that he can get at least one or two assists a game on that back door cut alley oop pass to Cato for an easy dunk. Cato did not shoot 57% last year due to his post game, it was Francis and Moochie setting the table, so that all Cato had to do was eat. Once Ming starts rebounding the missed shots and passing them back out to Steve he will learn to love him, and Cato will hear Rudy turn to him and say...."Grab some pine bub !" DaDakota
Old School, are you positive thats exactly what he said. It sounded like he said: "im not backing out of the picks" . that doesnt really make sense though, so your probably right in your interpretation. though i am sure the last part of his statement was more like: "Im sure Catos' not going to just let him(Ming) just come in and take his spot from him" anyways, Ming and Nachabar are Houston rockets now, so none of this really matters .....
you guys are a bunch of feelgood revisionists. Have at it with Troy. The guy is a 3 year old... but for you guys to insinuate that Francis was hunkydory with picking Ming is to insinuate that Clutch and Doc Rocket were lying too.
Now I feel bad to have bashed Stevie coz of Troy's b.s. Troy 'claims' to be Stevie's buddy. I dont know if i should believe him now.
I think they're attacking Troy's assertions that Francis would be gone if we got Yao, as opposed to his saying Francis was unhappy. That is a valid difference although people were upset with him and blamed him for both.
Oh sweet Jesus...now we got body language experts on the boards to go along with all of the mindreaders. Maybe I should take a break and come back when training camp starts...this is getting to be too much. os
He said "I'm not backing out on CATO..." meaning that he hasn't given up on him. That's what a good teammate should say. os
This is twice Francis has gone out of his way to point out that hes content with Cato at the center position. Tonight. And once on Jim Rome. Francis seemed to really emphasize the point that Cato's still the starter on this team. Before the interview, Even Chris, the sports guy, warned us not to laugh.
Gone out of his way?? It wasn't like he held a press conference to announce that he preferred Cato over Yao. The guy said Cato would fight for his spot...it was that simple. I don't know how both of us could have seen the same interview yet you can't or don't want to understand it. The mindset of some on this board have reached another level. os
Old School go get a Berman scoop or something. Francis was certainly not enthused. hey if your Francis, and i want your feelings about the addition of Ming and you give me this same old...well...Cato is still the starting center blah blah...then your a bitter punk, imo.
