I didn't see channel 2 tonight but I know a lot of stations and networks are all over the duct tape/prepare angle. It's all over the Chronicle and most online papers. Is that paranoia? I had my wife buy some extra water to keep as an emergency tonight during her normal grocery shopping. Am I paranoid now? (I already had duct tape.)
No, thinking that you can seal yourself off in a room w/ duct tape & plastic, and in doing so prevent chemicals & virii from seeping in, is ludicrous. If by some miracle you did seal youself off, you would suffocate. Having extra food/water/batteries around is always a good idea - especially in a coastal area . However, like I said before, there is no way you can turn your little house in the Heights into the NORAD bunker from Wargames.
Hmmmm ... it probably still wouldn't protect you from terrorists. But it would ensure that you stay tender on the inside and crispy on the outside.
apparently all the fearmongers have selfishly stocked up on the distilled water at the local kroger. this is why the media needs relax and not stir panic. here i am wanting to get me 1 gallon of distilled water because im thirsty but what happen was probably a few selfish people decided to stock up on water for themselves and not leave at least one freakin' gallon for one man.
Thank you RocketBurrito for a little common sense! Wow, I guess we'll have to rethink our national Duct Tape and Sheeting Missile Defense shield. And we can get the space shuttles flying again once we wrap one up properly in plastic. Meanwhile, researchers have discovered that you don't actually need a lead and concrete bunker to keep out the gamma rays; what you've needed was at Home Depot the entire time.
