Well, we didn't get expiring contracts cause they are still on our roster. They just expired sooner. And 2nd rounders...we don't have a good history with those (yes, I know...but Cat being like the only exception).

Would DA have been the difference maker? Know way to know. But he absolutely would have helped. Games 3-6 all came down the the 4th quarter so any bit would have helped. Hell, most seem to agree that if JHow wasn't hurt, THAT would have made the difference.

Anyway, no big deal. I just thought it was interesting that Houston was ready to pull the trigger and Portland withdrew. Could have been interesting.

I'm telling you guys, Wesley will be starter when season comes.
Unless Finley comes to town, DW is starter over DA or Spree.
    And right so.

Maybe later he won't start, but when season starts he will.

..that is if he doesn't get traded.

Will, Just from what I have seen, his passing is pretty good. And his assist numbers for a SG are relatively high I think. Just my own personal observations.

micah1j, I didn't forget Bowen. He is listed on my roster example in my post under SF.

Looking at whats available, I'm amenable to DA. I wouldn't consider him a huge difference maker. My expectations would be an above-average role player with flexibility at multiple positions as insurance to our other aging, broken-down guards. His 41% shooting doesn't thrill, but he is a well rounded player.

other than DA's athletic ability and pretty good shot I think that his ball handling skills and passing will help us out tremendously. For those that dont know we just added Stromile Swift who loves to get out on the break and run. Wesley was never able to grab a board or take an outlet pass and push it up the floor because he was not a good ball handler at all. With DA we get a speedy gaurd that is comfortable handling the ball which will result in more fast break points with the addition of swift. We should all know by now that fast break points start with strong ball handling which is why we hardly ever got any with Francis. In my opinion it is for this reason that we are better off not getting Finley and will hopefully get DA. Just picture DA pushing the ball down the middle of the floor with Tmac and Swift on each side, now try to picture the outcome of that same break with Wesley handling the ball.

We are really starting to bear fruit making Yao our #1 pick in the draft. First, T-Mac comes because he wants to play with a dominant big man. Then SS and now DA see the potential of this team with T-Mac/Yao. Funny I remember that game with Orlando and Yao went off for 35 or so points and T-Mac was raving about Yao after the game, just was wondering what would have happened if Yao had stunk it up that game.

Only thing I think that prevents this signing if someone offers the MLE or partial MLE enabling them to sign DA for up to 6 years. If we don't get him, plan B must be GP or NVE.

I think the max for signing with another team (MLE) is 5 years now, and 6 if you re-sign with your current team. Correct me if I'm wrong...

I think he's good for the team, but how many good overall players do we have, too many, we need some specialists. A shooter and a true point.

    thanks for the explanation.

on 610 mark straight up asked feigan if players could double dip and feigan said no. i just assumed that was right though he seems to have changed his mind a little in his article. either way it seems DA can't make significant;y more anywhere else.

feigan was on 610 last night explaining that he was wrong about that when he was on 610 earlier. I guess that article was a result of that research.

wouldnt you rather make a strong push for Jay Williams. hes a big, tough natural PG rather than another tweener on the roster. we could get him cheap and he could be the steal of the season once he gets back into playing shape. imagine the youth on the team.
    Jay Williams
    Yao Ming
    Stro Swift
    TMAC
thats my ideal rox team the next 5 yrs at least.
    championship 3 of those years..
    yea

i admit Jay Williams has that potential but he could also possilby be had for a 1 year minimum to prove himself and get back out on the market by his point of view, and we can early bird him for less than the MLE maybe.

It is not a full double dip. It is a certain percentage set off. For DA, the difference between the lakers and rockets is about 400K. Which I wonder what the difference would be in tax savings if he came to Houston instead of going to LA

Last year JVG chose to play wesley more than any other guard. No way he drops to third spring this year.

Agreed. Rich Lord isn't much better, but "the Voice" comes off as a pompous ass. Worse than that; a pretentiously self-effacing pompous ass.

No way. I don't understand this love affair with Jay Will, the guy wasn't a good NBA player BEFORE he was injured and Duhon ran the Point most of the time at Duke. People want to pass up on guys like Van Exel because of their history of injuries and then take a chance on Jay Will, who hasn't proven a thing in the NBA, We need a real PG to win a championship.
