I hate comments like this. Okie State and USC looked like they may be the two best teams in the country after week one, and now they both have losses. Oklahoma looked like a lost cause after the first week and now has pitched two shutouts in a row. Each week is different. Last year Oklahoma undoubtedly looked much, MUCH better than Texas through the first four games of the season, yet we were better on that day. Plus, who really looked good today... Florida? I watched that game and it was very similar to the UT-Tech game. USC? Ha. Alabama? Ole Miss? Penn State? North Texas, Temple, and SE Lousiana sure are juggernauts. Bottom line, a win is a win. I have a sneaking suspicion Tech will not have too many more losses this year and I like Potts infinitely more than I ever liked Harrell.
For a lawyer, you're doing a pretty ****ty job parsing the language. Read it again and then tell me why you're wrong bro.
Wow. Not sure why moes made it a goal to sit at home and comment constantly about this game. Kinda moronic, personally. As for myself? Went with RM Tex and about 20 other folks. Mostly UT fans. Had my Tech jersey on and made fun of UT fan the entire time. End result? We lost, but the game was hardly a blowout. If this is how UT avenges bad losses, let's just say I'm hardly worried. UT's offense looked pretty horrible all game.
You know, you were more than welcome to join us, rather than sit and state "bigwhiskeyand grogoxking" the entire evening. Food for thought. BTW, we'll be at Christian's Tailgate @ noon.
Yeah bro, I had just gotten back from playing B-Ball with some clutchfans and I was pretty beat, so we went back home and I pounded a few brewskis and found this thread. You know how it goes.
The word "initiate" is presumably what you are relying on. His arms may have made contact first (cannot tell - old eyes and bad video), but it looked clear to me that his helmet made contact with the QB's helmet. I did not see any angle of that video where it appeared that he hit the shoulders. If that had happened in any other game, it would have been flagged. These refs let too many late hits, etc go against both QBs last night. It really does not matter. It did not decide the game. It may have had a small impact on point spread, but not the winner of the game.
That was much closer than what I had thought. I think if Tech would have brought their B game on offense they might have pulled this one out. You cant ask for more than what the defense gave but offensively that was a below average peformance by tech standards. Way to many mistakes and to many yellow flags... But overall i'm impressed by tech that was the first game ive seen this season they shouldnt lose more than 3 games. Than head into next season and with bradford and colt gone who knows? I dont see UT going through undefeated just dont. How does the premiere team in texas not have a stud running back out there?
Hmm.. way to look at it both ways. If Tech brought their B game on offense, they would have won? What about Texas? Texas was playing worse than Tech was on both ends, you can argue. I mean Texas won because of their defense, but both their offense and defense was below par. Hmm... so you need a star running back now to go undefeated? So many damn bitter UT haters in this thread... they won, I think that's all that matters right now. Last year, Colt struggled in the first half of the season along with Texas (at least in a number of things)... it's too early to judge if they'll get beat up by anyone, like baseballa said, every week is different.
I'm just saying, haters always find excuses... No, I think I've been this way for a while, I didn't start watching the Longhorns this season, I've been a fan since i was a kid.
It looks like UT let the best running back go to....A&M. Christine Michael. lost that recruiting battle
I think for anybody to hold tech to 3 pts at halftime your defense is playing pretty damn good... No you dont have to a stud running back but it helps...
Yea. All of the top 3 backs from the 05 team (Taylor, Charles and Young) were all better than any of the backs we have now.
What "game" do you think they brought on offense? C? D? Potts had 420 yards passing, 3TDs. Average yds passing/game this year = 444. Average yards passing/game last year for Harrell= 393.
We didn't offer him -- he wanted an offer from UT, OU, or LSU and didn't get one. We liked Chris Whaley better, and I think Michael was playing games. That may end up as a bad decision, but to say we "lost that recruiting battle" is like saying Texas "lost the recruiting battle" for Sam McGuffie.
According to Rivals, he got an offer from both LSU and OU. http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Christine-Michael-63777
I remember hearing that he was practically begging for UT to offer him, but for some reason we didn't. It certainly looks like he is better than anything we have back there now. Oh well, the rivalry is more fun when A&M is good.
You can bet your ace that if Michael had shown any interest at all in UT, he would have had an offer from them. UT surely wanted him - he was a 5 star back. Could UT have made a stronger push? Maybe. They didn't. How's Whaley doing this season?
