It's an inherent problem with five conferences and four slots. I agree that Florida State isn't one of the best teams, but I do know I'd be furious if I were a fan of that team to say nothing of all the non-quarterbacks on the team who literally did everything that was asked of them. My memory might be failing, but how is this not analogous to Ohio State and Cardale Jones? The committee knew that they'd be starting a third-string QB in the playoff but picked them anyway (with one loss).
That's a good point. Louisville was atrocious. But the Big Ten West is a perpetual dumpster fire (see: Iowa)
Criteria changes every year to get to the desired result. What a joke. Happy for my family and friends that are massive Longhorn fans. I’ve lamented the figure skating approach of college football for years…but this is nuts.
Cardale Jones led Ohio State to a 59-0 shellacking of Wisconsin in the Big Ten title game. Trust me, there was no other team in the country that would have come close to beating Wisconsin 59-0 that year. It was unreal!
It changes next year. Of course, they announced this 3 years ago and had to wait a bit because of reasons.

It’s football. Knocking the best player out of the game has been a game strategy since the game was founded.
I am really shocked that FSU got left out - I agree though that they are not 1 of the best 4 teams (not really impressed with Washington, either) but I really didn’t think they would have the balls to do what they did.
It really had nothing to do with Texas other than money. The CFP had to put the SEC champion in the playoffs and Texas spanked that Champion in their stadium being the first to do it in forever. They couldn't put Alabama in without putting Texas in. They tied their own hands by ranking Texas above Alabama all season. A Texas Alabama rematch is like printing money.
Once again...this will all be different next year. I look forward to the Liberty Falwell Bible College getting destroyed in the 3rdQ by the 3rd stringers of Missouri (or whoever)
