Seems like a good PR firm would know that it's bad PR for your client to announce that you were hired to promote their cause.
Scrubby little Baylor is so desperate. Cmon man...the fact that we're even in the convo speaks volumes about where we have come. We don't have ESPN nut riding us like Ohio State does. It won't really matter anyway. The proof is in the pudding and Baylor needs to kill K State.
I'm pretty pissed off about this. One true champion. I've seen the ad a gazillion times. Terrible ad. **** you, Big 12. Get a championship game if there is such a thing as a co-champ in this current setting. Baylor would like to settle it on the field.
Ohio State can struggle against unranked teams. So can Bama against Arkansas and LSU. But Baylor can't play a close game after it was a blow out until the starting qb was knocked out. All of a sudden, it wasn't an impressive win (it wasn't generally speaking)...my point is that I actually heard people in the media calling the Michigan win a quality win. Yeah okay. TCU killed Texas and BU struggled against Texas. Beating a team by 21 isn't good enough. The new system is like the old system. Style points BS.
Between the BCS/Playoff, unbalanced schedules, academic cheating scandals, recruiting violations, the ncaa itself, the whole "student athlete", etc... I don't know how anyone can enjoy college football. I'm a huge sports fan and can watch and enjoy just about any sport but I can't get over all of that. This switch to the playoff did nothing for me personally.
I have no horse in the race, but I find it mind boggling that people are actually talking about ignoring a head to head victory. Assuming they beat K-State, Baylor will have an extremely similar schedule to TCU, and they will have beat them head to head. I don't give a f**K about style points, or who I even think the better team is, they got the wins. FWIW I like many think TCU is the better team but that doesn't matter, results do. And where does the Big 12 get off with this co-champions BS, same record, and a head to head game. Baylor is the champion, TCU is the runner up, there is no debating this.
To me it's simple. Here's a hypothetical. All-time Michigan plays All-time MSU and MSU wins. But All-time Michigan has Brady out for that game so they start Chad Henne. Brady comes back the next game and they torch everyone by a 50pt margin, meanwhile MSU is sneaking by their opponents, inking out 1-4 point victories and losing to all-time Ohio State who has 2 losses. 1-loss All-time Michigan is the better team, despite losing to MSU. The regular season is not a playoff. Another simple factor. TCU lost by only 3 AT Baylor. On the road, AT Baylor. What happens on a neutral field? What happens in Fort Worth? What happens if Petty is out for the season? Do you ignore the fact TCU is playing better football lately? The playoff is the playoff. Regular season is the regular season....
Baylor had a close call against Tech. TCU had a close call this month against Kansas. Big whoop. Baylor destroyed OU in Norman. TCU barely beat them in Fort Worth. We could go round and round. It's absurd that there's even talk about ignoring head-to-head if Baylor wins this week.
In this specific instance I also think it's dumb. Baylor should be ahead of TCU and the Big 12 should be supporting Baylor. But generally speaking, that wont always be the case IMO. And it shouldn't be the case. Every single factor should be included in the debate. And that's how the committee is handling it. One thing I think is really funny is how the committee has come out and said 20% of their decision will be based on if you win the conference, beat the conference champ and/or lose to the conference champ (less punitive). So the Big 12 coming out and being like, "naaah, brah, co-champs" is absurd and cowardly.
Yes I do ignore it. In this system the regular season is a playoff and TCU lost, I don't care if they are a better team. And they weren't missing their best player, they just lost. Now if TCU had ran a gauntlet while Baylor played creampuffs then we could talk, but they have played very comparable schedules.
Has a conference champion ever been placed in a lesser bowl under a team they beat when both teams had 1 loss when the season was over? I'm not talking three-team scenarios where all have one loss and circular victories (UT beating OU who beat TT who beat UT).
Every time I post on this, I can't believe I'm even having to waste the energy making my fingers type, but this would be basically saying your best loss is better than your best win, even when that best win is against the team that is going in against you. What sport does that?
FWIW I think Ohio St. will be the 4th team (not that i agree with it) The committee doesn't think Baylor is all that good, (I don't think Baylor is all that good but I know what's fair), but the committee will be unable to justify putting TCU in ahead of them so Ohio St. will be the cop out choice. If Baylor is removed from the equation I think TCU gets in.
Ohio State's QB situation will be a factor. Not just an on-field factor, but something the committee will use to diminish their value.
I don't think it is out of the realm of possibility that FSU loses to Ga Tech and finally gets exposed as the fraud team they are... Fingers crossed
