They did? Most people started the Auburn band wagon as the season progressed. Auburn suffered a perception problem. Watching them survive the SEC schedule was very impressive, as impressive as LSU before. There was no doubt LSU was better than OU 2 years ago and USC was better last year. Auburn was as good if not better than the 2003 LSU team. The commonality was that OU was dominated in both of those games. The media perception of getting blown out and then having it carry over this year is significant. They already lost Myron Rolle, the #1 player in the country, to FSU when he was a definite OU lean all the way late last season. If they lose to Texas this year, their recruiting will start to hurt a lot more - the lifeblood of college football.
Auburn was dominant mid-season when OU struggled a bit. To close the season, Auburn beat Alabama 21-13 and Tennessee 38-28. OU (against admittedly inferior competition in Nebraska, Baylor, and Colorado) won those final three games a combined 107-6, allowing less than 50 total yards to Colorado in the B12 championship. Auburn was gaining ground in the polls going into the final weeks of the season. That all disappeared the week of the SEC and B12 champonship games. OU dominated Colorado while Auburn struggled to beat a injury-riddled Tennessee that started its 3rd-string QB and had a 3pt game in the fourth quarter.
I've been gone all weekend, but I suppose I should post in this thread and take my medicine now. OU football used to be what tided me over until the Rox season started. If things keep going this way, I don't know what I'll have. 'sigh' Go Sooners.
You know, I would try to cheer you up and tell you I feel sorry for you... but looking at the damn sig for god knows how long has really made me bitter.
