Really? How long should we wait for a center to just fall in our laps? Sooner or later, we will have to reach for something.

I will back off a little, though - I think Motiejunas might be huge.

Still, Lee plus Motiejunas for Asik gives us:

    Lowry / Dragic / Flynn
    Martin / TWill
    Bud / Morris / Chandler
    Scola / PPatt / Hill
    Asik / Hayes / Thabeet

with, say, Flynn, Scola, TWill, Thabeet on the block, with backup SG our only hole, and Scola / Flynn able to bring back a nice player at the 2, 3, or 5 spot, or draft picks.

Would this really be so bad?

Lee/Motiejunas is a horrible trade for Asik.
Motiejunas has the potential to be GREAT
Asik has already shown what he is.
And we know how good Lee is.

Maybe so, but there aren't that many true defensive centers out there. Again, how long do you want to wait?

I don't think we have to as long as we have an eye for good talent. Because just like DeAndre Jordan, Omar Asik and Javale McGee a few years ago, their are sleepers out there, ready to come on to the scene and explode. That could be had for a cheaper price then these other centers, who've come on to the scene recently.

Like for example the guy I proposed, Cole Aldrich, he's currently stuck behind Perkins, Mohammed and even Collison and Ibaka, who both get minutes at the center spot. On a championship caliber team in the OKC Thunder, who's in a win now mentality. Thus the lack of playing time and lack of exposure for this recent rookie.

Which is what we need to do, find someone stuck in a similar situation where their not in position to show what they can do, thus having low trade value.

Basically what I'm proposing is that instead of overpaying for some of these up and coming over priced center's, we need to find the next potential sleeper that every one is over looking ... Personally I believe Cole Aldrich is that guy.

I like him too. And he'd be willing to play the Center spot, which with his frame, is exactly where he should play. Don't know what it would take to get him though.

    Kansas connection

I grant that this is a valid argument, and that all will be forgiven once we get a good center. I also grant that that will happen sooner or later, but when? In five years? There aren't that many real centers out there.

Besides, in order for the Accumulation of Assets strategy, to work, you have to be able to make 2-for-1 trades, or be allowed to have thirty players under contract. I have not seen this ability to consolidate players happen, probably because Morey refuses to lose on the deal. We need to be able to trade a player worth five points, plus one worth six, for another player worth seven, and Morey won't do it. So, we end up releasing players, such as JT and Ish (who wasn't exactly released, but he WAS discarded), which takes us backward.

This. Morey including people on our clutchfans and fanbase believe role players like Budinger and Hill are too irreplaceable even though tthey dont even like these guys. They view our draft picks as sacred cows or something. Nobody including Morey is down for making a trade that is gonna hurt a little. The reality is only a trade that is gonna hurt us a little will end up getting us what we want.

I want Asik, but Lee is going to be a key piece in a solid defensive team. His ability to slide over and shut down point guards or smaller wings is valuable. I probably would swap Lee for Asik, but I would hate it.
