if they suspend him for 2 games and the hawks take those 2 then the heat are going to cruise to the finals.
A real problem, yet again, is the sensitivity of NBA officials. It's just despicable. That was an incredibly close call on whether it was a jump ball or foul. There are 40 seconds left in a four-point game. Players are giving everything they have from a mental standpoint. When a 50-50 call that might decide a playoff game goes against a player, he's going to be upset. That's human. If the player keeps going on and on about it and won't stop, perhaps you eventually have to T him up. But Rondo was given the technical in a split-second after he had said about two words. And a technical, in that situation, basically ends the game. The second technical was legit. You can't bump an official, and Rondo deserved to be ejected. But the situation never should've reached that point. Officials go on and on about how tough their job is and how fans need to consider that they're human and will make mistakes. The reason I can't accept that argument is that they refuse to give that same courtesy to the players. To call a technical THAT quickly against Rondo in a four-point game with 40 seconds left is just incomprehensible. Officials need to grow up.
Bro, I love emotions and all that, hell I'm a big fan of Rondo and KG too. But, what Rondo did was definitely a tech, and after that he earned getting kicked too.
That was a terrible call. And that was BARELY any bump. The league can't seriously suspend him for that.
What did he do? He punched his own hand in frustration and said about two words. Sorry, that shouldn't be a technical with 40 seconds left in a tight playoff game. Emotions run high, and unless the player keeps doing it and won't stop for several seconds, you need to have thick enough skin (as well as understand the moment) and let it go.

they need to suspend the ref. seriously this was in the final minutes of the 4th. celtics had a great defensive play taken away
Ref initiated the contact while kg was calm. Any time a player initiates the contact he's suspended. Brooks barely tapped an official with the ball and he got multiple games.
The foul call is debatable (perhaps a terrible call). But Rondo smacked his hands together at the official which is an automatic tech. That isn't debatable. Rondo bumping the official is an automatic 2nd tech and ejection. That isn't debatable either. Even when a ref blows a call, players can't react like that. Just the way it is. IMO, the NBA will look at it frame by frame to try and give Rondo the benefit of the doubt, but he will be suspended. I sure hope not. That ref should be suspended for the playoffs.
Slapping your own hands together in frustration is an automatic technical? Sorry, I don't buy it. I do that all the time, including at my own job. Really don't think it's a huge deal. I can't see that being justification for a possible game-ending technical with 40 seconds left in a playoff game. A decent official would WARN him, and if it continues, THEN give the tech.
They can't suspend refs. That would be like the nba admitting we screwed up so we are making it right....Right by who?
Rondo slapped his hands and got in the face of the refs. Of course they are going to tech him. It's not like he slapped his hands together from long distance. You can't slap your hands AND get in the ref face.
I recall the nba saying they were cracking down on players reactions to calls. Something along the lines of zero tolerance...no warnings.
If I had a dime for every time I've seen an NBA player do that and not be given a technical, I'd be a millionaire. Good freaking lord, that is not worth a critical free throw in the last minute of a tight playoff game.
