Ahhh, I see. I wasn't aware of any reports that his injury might be more serious than the C's are letting on. No lie: I absolutely despite KG but I really hope he's alright. Agreed entirely the C's are screwed if he's done or can't go the distance at nearly full strength.

If the Cavs come out of the East (and I think that's a big IF), I think the West champions will take them easily. Most of the frontlines of West are tough while the Cavs' are meh IMO (a Big Z, Ben Wallace - if he makes it back, and Sideshow Bob frontline does not strike fear in me; OTOH Joe Smith can be a surprise bonus for them), and the West top teams have alot of athletic wings to make LBJ work for his points. They prolly won't be swept like the last time they made it to the finals, but I wouldn't favor them.

That said, I still think the Celtics can take them in a 7 game series (with a healthy KG). BTW I give the Cavs, their style of walk it up basketball and let Lebron dribble around until he drives into 5 players, and the media/fans "OMG! LBJ is so awesome!!! HE's the best evahhhh!" licking his and their collective nuts a big Pffffft. Yeah I'm rooting against the Cavs, so what. :D

Tracy McGrady and Kevin Garnett conversation:

TMac - Hey, whatsup KG, I'm telling you right now bro, don't rush back like the Rockets training staff rushed me back, just rest until the playoffs come
KG - I should listen to you bro, you know a lot about this stuff so I am going to believe you
Tmac - No problem man, I'm just trying to warn you, I was playing on my knee and was averaging 16 points per game on a knee that needed microfracture surgery. This all happened from my training stuff
KG - Thanks for the help, I will sit out until the playoffs when they really need me. But then, its on me.

I think the Cavaliers will be the last on standing in the east.

Some food for thought: It is very late in the season. KG sat out for ONE MONTH, then played limited minutes in only 4 games and already has to sit down again. I'm no doctor, but doesn't it seem overly optimistic to think another week off will solve the problem? We are talking about knee soreness.

Read these articles from the Boston Herald and see if you can't detect a lot of worry from the Celts: http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/...w.bg?articleid=1162639&srvc=sports&position=0 and http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/basketball/celtics/view/2009_03_31_Doc:_Garnett_still_not_right/. I don't think it looks good for them. In the playoffs, they need KG to be "right" in order to contend for the Finals.

At halftime of tonight's Blazers/Spurs game, ESPN played a tape of Doc Rivers making some comments:

    (1) After sitting out a month, KG had some intense pain during the limited minutes in his brief return.

    (2) KG will not be 100% when the playoffs start.

Then he said something that is patently ridiculous:

    (3) They hope he will become 100% as the playoffs progress.

I'm borderline ready to say the Celts have no chance of defending their title. Without KG, they will probably not beat the Magic in the 2nd round no matter who has home court.

For the bettors out there, just go ahead and put your money on it being the "dream series": Cavs vs. Lakers.

Powe is already healthy (able to run), though he won't be back until next week.

KG, rumor has it, has much improved over the past week and will practice by Monday. Remember that a knee strain doesn't mean any permanent damage, requiring surgery, was done.

No need for alarmism just yet, especially with the improved play of Glen Davis, and a much deeper second unit than the Celtics had at the beginning of the season when they won nineteen straight games.

Nobody is saying KG's injury is serious in the sense of damage, but his ability to be himself in the playoffs doesn't look promising. Big Baby & others on the bench playing well may get them out of the 1st round, but not much more.

The dream series? You can pick the Lakers if u want but to call it a "dream" series? This is a Rockets board, dude.

I guess you missed the quotation marks (""). Lakers vs Cavs is what the NBA brass and ABC wants.
