http://www.cbssports.com/nba/blog/e...e-to-be-bought-out-by-celtics-made-free-agent The Ohio News-Leader is reporting that Danny Ainge is "likely" to buy out the Celtics' Paul Pierce this summer for $5 million, releasing the franchise player into the free agency wild. Sources indicate Celtics director of basketball operations Danny Ainge will likely buy out forward Paul Pierce's $15 million contract for next year ($5 million is guaranteed). If that happens, Grant should be first in line to try to acquire Pierce's services. However, before anyone gets too giddy, Pierce will likely want to go to a serious contender. The decision to waive Pierce will be difficult for many Celtics fans to swallow should it come to fruition. Pierce has been with the franchise for 15 seasons. He's "The Captain." It would be flat-out remarkable to see the Celtics with Pierce in another uniform. It's a bit early to be planning the wake for Pierce's Celtics career, though. There have been few indications from Boston media that the Celtics have reached a decision. They also run the risk of alienating Kevin Garnett who has been adamant about wanting to play with Pierce for the rest of his career. Big decisions lay ahead in the next month and a half for the Celtics, but the reports seem to be leaning towards Pierce being headed for the big green exit.
Can you imagine! Nash, Kobe in crutches, Pierce, Garnett and Maybe Howard! Its like Space Cowboys in real life!
he should join the Nets. Then KG gets traded there for Humphries and multiple 1st rd picks. Pierce-KG would both be a great fit there and push them into legit contention for a couple years.
He will most likely go to Indiana, imo. I can see it now. Indi gets booted out by Miami in 7. They trade Granger, pick up the Captain and go to the finals.
Nash Kobe Pierce Gasol Howard Sixth man: Artest The Lakeshow would be funny and entertaining to watch. Betting features include who will be the first to yell at a teammate, and who will get the first technical.
PP's time as a lead dog is a thing of the past, but he could be an awesome addition to a contending team. Dial back his playing time to about 25 mpg and he could be a very effective 3rd or 4th option. Unless the Rockets sign Dwight Howard and shoot for the stars next season, he's not a good fit in Houston because of Parsons. He could go back home and make the Clippers better.
Parsons and Pierce could play together. Pierce is very good rebounder and still better than Parsons will ever be. Beverley/Harden/Parsons/Pierce/Howard would be great closing lineup.
yep, they have all their picks. well, Atlanta has a right to swap a couple of picks with them -- but then Brooklyn would have Atlanta's picks. they could essentially offer 4 unrestricted 1st round picks in a trade, if it came to that. Considering that they have some older players and injury questions, who knows, a 2017 pick for example might turn out pretty decent.
If we had Howard on board I'd love to have Pierce as the 6th man if he was interested. He'd be an awesome fit.
