    Successful Trade Scenario
    Congratulations on a successful trade.

Due to Houston, Denver, and Boston being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Houston, Denver, and Boston had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Any signing of semi-decent vet is a good signing for them now, anything to prevent having to rely on unreliable players whenever their "Big 3" needs a blow or has to sit out a game.

Wow. Great signing for the celtics. I agree they could use some help at point guard, but they're starting to look really serious in the East. Of course, I still wouldn't take them all that seriously in the West but that's irrelevant.

good signing, but how would you feel if you were signed only because a retired 42 year old decided not to make a comeback?

It's pretty obvious now that Rajon Rondo does not fit with this team. He's much more suited for the fast break where he can use his PG skills. This Celts team is going to play the slow it down half court style, Rondo's greatest weakness. Rondo is actually the only valuable trade piece Boston has left, I wonder if Ainge can do something creative with Rondo this season.

I guess I'm in the minority, but Posey doesn't really add much to the team imo.

What they could really use is another decent post player and some pg depth. All three of their stars can man the wing position.

What they could really use is players (other than the big three) that deserve to be in the NBA. I don't see how they can afford to be too picky. Any addition of a player worthy of the NBA makes them better.

It must be pretty embarrassing to have LESS spending money than the Celtics at this point.

Exactly. Posey was one of the few rotation worthy players left in the FA and they got him for a good price. Even if Ray and Pierce stay healthy all season there is 25 minutes of back-up duty Posey can give really helps.

PG is the one spot they are in big trouble. They get a Rafer or comparable servicable PG, I would be ready to call them the East favorites. Without that guy, no.

Michael Olowokandi's even more of a joke than he already was if he can't even back up Kendrick Perkins and Scot Pollard, geez...

I see Rafer Alston being a very nice fit on the Celtics team. Enough that, even though they're in the East, I'd think twice about making them better by giving him to them. Gotta take what we can for Rafer of course though....

Posey is good in a 6th man/off the bench type role. Though it doesnt quite fit their biggest needs, good pickup for the Celtics.

well they now have the best swingman rotation in the league.

my worry (for them) is that they will be forced to give scrubs too many minutes at the 5 and 1.

i think they're looking at a similar playing time distribution to below:

    perkins (32)
    garnett (40)
    pierce (36)
    allen (36)
    rondo (30)
    -------------
posey (24) backing up the 2/3
    house (18)
    pollard (12)
    big baby (12)

if i were a C's fan i would want to see rondo and perkins at 24 mpg, a vet pg worthy of 24mpg, and a f/c worthy of about 30mpg.

unles posey is going to play pg it doesnt matter.

seriously, he will help alot and probably see 20-30 min. but its all moot because dan dickau is not the solution. right now, i think garnett is bring the ball up the court. the celtics have to find a solution at the one before they expect to make any noise.

We've seen how a "big 3" works... See Washington. Well I suppose this is a "bigger 3", but injuries are the question marks for Boston. Safe, solid signing, but the most unreliable are often the most reliable. We'll see.
